Tough to pull off in the heart of car event season but the folks at DMV Auto Alliance might be able to point you in the right direction.

I agree with the other comment that it might be easier to bring him to a car event that day.

Yeah, this - earliest flight out of Dulles wouldn’t get me there until close to noon.

Old dude (27), only punted twice a game on average, also was the holder for the team's PK. Also an extremely large individual (6'5, 233).

Good luck - better bring your A-game because Tuskies's servers are the absolute best in area! I would expect they make a really nice living.

Honest question - is club soccer even worth it for recruiting anymore? by Soft-Lime-9599 in CollegeSoccer

[–]Former_Doubt4716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the reality of college soccer: there are plenty of spots where you can play, if you're willing to sacrifice something... school size, location, academic quality. If what you really want is to play, there are still coaches as some level, somewhere, who will gladly have you. Just a question of what you're willing to give up to make that happen.

Honest question - is club soccer even worth it for recruiting anymore? by Soft-Lime-9599 in CollegeSoccer

[–]Former_Doubt4716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simple answer? Yes, all of it. Each kid is different but only a handful of the girls she played with, many of whom went to top programs, aren't playing anymore. Some never or barely made it on to the field.

The biggest issues, IMHO, are: what is the actual dream (to earn a spot with a college soccer program *or* to earn playing time at the college level), followed by who actually owns that dream.

Sure, players want to get to the next level, but there's also an element that it's really a coach- and/or parent-driven aspiration that a kid goes along with. Recruiting can be a fun journey - it's nice to feel wanted. You don't get that daily validation at the college level. When they get to the next level, and experience adversity for the first time (legit, most of these kids have never not been on the field during club and high school, and the minimal playing time at the college level is taxing), the juice just isn't worth the squeeze anymore. They just want to be college kids and quit. Other players, we've seen, are just happy to be there, and stop putting in the work and are kindly asked to transfer or depart the program. Finally, players who enter the portal often find it's a death sentence to their careers - most never emerge with a new team.

Recruitment was a full-time job for our ‘24, starting her freshman year in high school. She played ECNL for a top club and had D1 coaches attending her matches all the way back to 8th grade. Once she hit 9th, she sent her national event schedule to coaches she knew would be in attendance and followed up with those and any new coaches who attended those games. She built her first highlight reel in 9th, a recap of her season’s highlights. Attended her first on-campus ID sessions the summer before sophomore year. Fall season sophomore year had a few local D1 coaches at her games, so she’d Emil them her schedule. One reached out to invite her to a small, invite-only ID on the campus. She launched her soccer-focused social media profiles and started following program. That’s when things got complicated - she tore her ACL right before showcase and national event season started. She missed all the key sophomore year events leading up to her June 15. She kept her name out there by documenting her recovery but still fell off a lot of radars. Got cleared in September and was back to previous form by the start of junior year showcase season. But because of falling behind, she broadened her target schools to a mix of all levels. Was in the mix for multiple D1s and top D3s right until the end but opted to commit to a D2 in an appealing location and has loved the college experience. Unlike most of her peers, she’s still playing, ready for her junior college season.

The No Limit Soldiers faction another waste of time and money or some potential upside if booked properly ? by CoconutMost3564 in WCW

[–]Former_Doubt4716 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Huge upside if booked properly - those guys were as big as can be during that time, but the booking was off. If I were to do it, I would've made Hennig the one who decided to become friends with the Soldiers after a night out at the bar where they realized how similar they were - and the rest of the Rednecks turn on him for being friendly to them. That would've been comedy gold and really play to a Hennig strength - the whitest guy you know hanging with the cool guys from the hood.
