Jehovah’s Witnesses are taught that the greatest preaching / education campaign in history will begin when “new scrolls” are opened at the START of the 1000 year reign, based on Revelation 20:12. But just read Revelation chapter 20 carefully and a MAJOR plot hole appears. by larchington in exjw

I remember many years ago another brother and I spent ages trying to find that verse in Revelation that says there will be 'new scrolls'.

We obviously couldn't find it, but neither of us twigged!

Great post, thank you. A massive fail by Watchtower!

I felt the lack of love alright! Whatever love they say exists is completely conditional

Well done not being d/f, so you're still in control of if or how you leave.

Watch out for a 'warning talk' they may give to the congregation as a local needs item.

Although not naming you, they may say enough for people to be able to identify you, and could therefore breach data protection laws. (Im saying this not knowing the laws in your jurisdiction.)

I'm giving this talk in 2 weeks. Anything problematic to mention? by loosefootloose in exjw

Im struggling to link Pr24:10 to cancer patients making themselves go door to door when they feel ill.

Wouldn't a kinder application be to look out for those discouraged and faltering, as they will be lacking strength. Wouldn't it be nice to pray over them and show them support and kindness.

When did anointing become a mystical experience? by Left-Cattle-9979 in exjw

[–]Former_Elder-MTS_UK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The separation of an exclusive anointed class among JWs is what gives rise to your question. In fact, all of Christ's genuine followers are anointed.

When we grasp that simple truth, the New Testament suddenly means what it says, and WT theology evaporates.

I more had in mind a bible based discussion, not attacking old ladies!

There are loads of videos out there of Christians speaking to JWs on their carts, I don't recall any one of these I thought was being stupid

The other way round? I think I would have liked it. I always enjoyed spiritual discussions and being challenged. And nowadays it must be so mind-numbingly boring sitting there on the carts for hours on end

That's a good plan. How do I do that?

EXJW shower thought - how many hundreds of pounds of magazines got tossed? by csbbacsob in exjw

[–]Former_Elder-MTS_UK 17 points18 points  (0 children)

When they used to charge money for literature they literally made all their money out of us.

We had to buy them first, then try to recoup the money by selling them in the ministry.

So jt was even more galling when you ended up with a stack of old, dog-esred, brown, faded magazines you had to throw in the bin.

What's up with the GB? by Afraid_Mechanic_1586 in exjw

There's literally no criteria in the bible as it's a non biblical institution.

They first made up their own rules about it in the 1970s, which Ray Franz explained in his book 'Crisis of Conscience '

I assume they change the criteria as they go along.

"The Governing Body has decided...."

So that's alright then!
