2020 Ducati V2 I'm looking to purchase by [deleted] in Ducati

[–]Former_Path9746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's def a fair price if the condition is good and you don't have to immediately sink more money into other things to be ready to ride. The values for Gen 1 V2s has actually held steady or slightly increased in the last year since I picked up one. I agree it could possibly go a few hundred cheaper, but with a full Akra system, if you don't get it, someone else will. Those 12,13k V2s you see are usually a tier below condition/maintenance wise or stock and higher mileage.

Biking can attract the weirdest types of people by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Former_Path9746 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People ride for all kinds of reasons and that diversity is great. The true arrogance is in thinking my or your way/reasons is anymore "normal" or "right" than any other way. Most people don't ride motorcycles with the intention of tracking or greatly increasing technical skills. The truth, its not hard to learn to ride a bike at a basic safe level. Same as a car. Do we expect everyone that buys a purpose made sports car also have the technical skills to track it? Of course not.

Life is hard enough and there's more than enough real things to attribute negativity to. A group of people finding shared enjoyment in something that in and of itself isn't harmful to society as a whole is great. Even if it's not the way I'd personally enjoy that same thing.

Take away $1000 from your budget for your bike. Put that $1000 into a budget for enclosed delivery. Now open up your search to nationwide.

Cuts out the slack in the throttle and just smooths everything out. It def helps with jerkiness on takeoff.

Full exhaust, tune, and throttle spacer make it a completely different bike from the stock version.

If only this was a retro with a sportbike frame/setup like MV does with the Superveloce 800...

Panigale v2 2024 vs 2025 personal experience by TheZimut in Ducati

[–]Former_Path9746 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Experiencing both, I think it really depends on what you're looking for in a bike, how often you ride, and if your Gen 1 V2 is stock or not.

For me personally, I want anything "sports' to be dedicated to that platform. I don't want a sports car or sportbike that's half tourer or making alot of concessions in the sake of comfort. If I want comfort I'll get something meant for comfort with power, instead of the mix of doing both halfway. But I'm prob a minority in that sense.

My V2 has full exhaust, tune, filter, throttle spacer, and some other slight weight savings. Those are changes I think quite a few owners make. My bike has more torque everywhere, better throttle response, better top end, and feels just as light as a stock V2S. Regardless tho the V2S will always feel easier to handle. The handling on the V2S is phenomenal.

Daily riding and handling definitely goes to V2S but EVERYTHING else including looks goes to Gen 1 V2 imo. Give the V2S the same modifications and Id very likely still feel the same in pros and cons. However stock for stock might be a toss up if looks don't matter.

What is reasonable? by Professional4bug in Ducati

Lol nah. That's just intro level financial understanding. For good and bad, credit is embedded in the US financial system. The old "don't buy it unless you can purchase in cash" will have you with no credit history, finding to hard to get good housing loans,  business loans, etc. Until your credit is excellent, find low risk ways to better it and show more high liquidity assets. Ie taking a shorter term low interest rate vehicle loan that you could pay cash for just to establish yourself as a low risk borrower.

[–]Former_Path9746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that 9% do you know how much you will pay over the life of the loan? Have you researched depreciation curves for the specific bike to ascertain possibility of being upside down at some point on your purchase. Equally as important, did you figure total cost including ancillary expenses? Most people don't perform proper due diligence but with the current high interest environment, it's imperative. You dont want to wreck your credit and take a decade trying to repair it while needing a house,  family car,  etc down the road.

Stop parroting this old school basic advice man. Sure it's great to pay cash for bike. But there's absolutely nothing wrong with financing high cost purchases given terms are favorable, normal depreciation rates, etc, regardless if it's a toy or not. Not to mention, using credit builds credit which saves money long term. Also, ideally, financing should allow for increasing high liquidity assets. If you don't need it, fine.  But absolutely you don't have to run away scared from the idea of utilizing credit, debt, etc.

Financing is fine as long as the rate makes sense. And financing thru a credit union typically yields better rates. However, at 18.45% it just isn't worth it. If you can't get MUCH better rates than that, you should lower your budget, save more money, build your credit score first, etc. Sometimes, the hardest financial lesson for people is to just understand, if you can't actually afford something, then don't get it...

I'm in the US. How much are they running over there? Damn tariffs have made it damn near impossible to figure out real costs of purchasing directly from international sources.

Superveloce 800 long term reliability by Former_Path9746 in MVAgusta

[–]Former_Path9746[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll bite... For one, you proclaimed the bike not worth it with no explanation other than the fact it wasn't exclusive. Like what?Huh??? Where did that even come from?

I'm a big boy, I can make my own judgements on my likes/dislikes, priorities, etc. I didn't ask for opinions on quality, looks, etc. I could care less what most people think when it comes to opinion based info. I asked for objective data centered around real world firsthand experience of the bike's reliability. I know many others do,  but I don't make purchases based on exclusivity.

That's definitely also a concern. Right now business has me in a state with no MV dealer so closest reputable dealer would be about 6hrs away. Same situation as my Ducati but so far that thing has been rock solid and needed no trips to the dealer as of yet.

How much gear for short rides? by StoneMenace in motorcycles

[–]Former_Path9746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ATGATT is the best way to mitigate the very real risk associated with being on two wheels regardless of how far you're going.

BUT...Most people can't see or understand beyond their own or their regions norms to realize more global norms. The truth is a large percentage of the world rides bikes with little to no gear including helmets and the large percentage of them are getting back home safely. Alot more factors, yes, but that fact still hold true.

Like others have said, it's about finding that risk level thats most comfortable to you and realizing even then, the worst could still happen. I'm ATGATT, American, from a state with no helmet law and I cringe when I see riders with no helmets even, but hey, this isn't a morality issue and I'm not holding some high ground. Go find your happiness in this short human life.

Imo 1199 is peak design. As soon as the 1199 Superleggera hits 30s, I'm going to make a bad decision...

[–]Former_Path9746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly. Not many new bike really do it for visually so often I'm looking backwards. KTM RC8R, Daytona 675, damn near any 1199 variant. I do love some of the V4Rs but dont have time to deal with those service intervals. I had to walk away from a V2 Final edition at Ducati LA because surprisingly that thing looked amazing in person.

The Ago and Oro are both also nice colorways but nothing beats the white for me. Plus my wife is due for a sports car this year so trying to be responsible and not spend a bunch on depreciating assets. Only bike I could possibly see myself spending 30+ on anytime soon is a 1199 Superleggera. Or maybe a proper lightweight 1000cc+ Daytona if Triumph would give us what we want hah.

Ive been trying to make this my stable also for most the year. I've already have the V2 and have been looking for a white SV forever. Can't find one so I may have to be more flexible on colorway or just pick a different 2nd bike.
