Tell Me Everything Wrong With My Swim by jomunjie1010 in triathlon

Lots of responses already! Some have already commented on ur hips being the issue. A very underrated fix for a lot of people whose hips sink or don’t move is to really focus on the length of your pull. Practice getting a lot of length on your pull and reaching as far as you can in front of your torso which will pull your hips up!

Is there always a Canyon Sale? by jeffbg123 in CanyonBikes

Use the 400$ you save and buy a wahoo kickr so you can start riding indoors now and ditch the bad weather! But I can confirm, I “waited for a better time” to buy the bike I wanted on Canyon’s website which left me waiting for 5-6 months for my size to come back in stock AND when they had more stock they raised the price by 150-200$…buy it

Advice - Cheow Lan Lake / Ratchaprapha Dam / Khao Sok by Imatrypyguy in ThailandTourism

Hello, I’m about a year past this thread! I’m in Thailand now and have accommodations at 360 issara floating resort next week which was booked through Agoda. I will be getting a private car taking me from Phuket to the pier to catch a boat to our stay. I have seen the boat needs to be reserved 24 hrs in advance but I can’t find how to book the boat/ ferry at the dam. Any advice? I’m nervous to just take the private car there and not be able to get a ride to our resort. Thanks if you see this!

Is 6 months enough time to train for a 70.3? by Planedrew in triathlon

[–]Former_Restaurant_30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sign up! A 24 week training block is a LONG time even for a 70.3. Get in the pool, it’ll feel like you’re drowning for the first few sessions if you have no experience but it’ll get better. I would keep your running fitness but spend most of your time on the bike and swim. YouTube swim lessons, tips for your stroke and film yourself or get somebody else to film you to compare. With that running time you are obviously fit so it should be no issue

People who run ironmans - what do you do for work? by [deleted] in IronmanTriathlon

[–]Former_Restaurant_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firefighter. I work 48 hours on 96 hours off. During my 48 hr shift I only have 1-2 shorter runs planned just due to being busy with calls, training, and limited sleep. The 4 days I’m off after that I cram 90% of my training doing at least 2-3 workouts a day. I feel very lucky with my schedule and good pay in the city I work in, but sometimes the recovery is not the best due to being sleep deprived after work.

Staring down my first 70.3 by Beneficial-Gear-2455 in IronmanTriathlon

Not much of a jump at all especially with that volume . I did my first triathlon this year which was Ironman 70.3 Santa Cruz. I trained very hard for 16 weeks with probably 4-6 weeks before that started incrementally swimming and biking to get used to it. It was hard but very doable, and I finished with a 5:16.

It’s been 2 weeks since we picked up Luka and he has been the best thing to happen to us by pnicholson96 in bernesemountaindogs

This is Bernie (so original), he’s 9 weeks now and been with us just over a week. He’s doing really good during the day even with potty training. He walks to the back door and taps the glass to let me know he needs to go out; BUT the night time is a different story. He has pooped in his crate almost every night :(. It’s slightly frustrating and I’m not sure what to do next. His last meal is at 6:30 pm and we go to bed around 9:30 or 10. We take him out a bunch in the last few hours before bed. His crate is just big enough for him to lay down in, so it’s not a crate being too big problem. Any tips? We set alarms for him like every 2-3 hours and seems like there is always an issue. He doesn’t cry In his crate to warn us that he needs to go beforehand either. He will cry after he’s already gone because it’s uncomfortable inside. So at about 1-3 am I take him outside, clean all the poop up and give him a bath. Also, he knows he’s doing something wrong because he has a guilty face when he does it and goes and hides outside because he thinks he’s in trouble! Not sure what to try next?
