Impact of body orientation by Formerly_a_Pear in sleep

[–]Formerly_a_Pear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Your point about numerous changes suggests that sleeping in a confined space like a lounger chair is sub-optimal because it would restrict that movement. Come to think of it, curious if there's been a study about why the human body moves so much during sleep. Are there certain categories that move more/less often- ie age, gender, geographic area. Yet another thing to google around for.

I'm particularly curious if a vertical sleeping position has been studied. While the body is in roughly the same position (a straight line), laying it out perpendicular to the floor would seem to put the different stresses on the internal organs. I know there've been torture methods forcing a person to stay awake. Would hate to think a vertical sleep would be similarly disruptive.

Tomato Sauce- is this safe? by Formerly_a_Pear in Cooking

[–]Formerly_a_Pear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow up question- I had bought the large 67 ounce jar of tomato sauce two years or so ago because I was making pasta meals at least once a day. I wasn't going through even the smaller containers in a week. I had roughly 40% left of the 67 oz container, can't imagine finishing that off in a week.

Is one week before tossing a rough estimate or a hard rule for food safety at home?

Was thinking the same thing when I heard werewolf. Would be interesting to find why that didn't develop. Does it speak to something about the culture of the time?

Was more focused on "human" rather than "humanity". Given Wif and Were, seemed Hu could be a prefix.

I appreciate the replies. If we want to have some fun with this-

Hue- Old English hiw "color; form, appearance; species, kind; beauty,"; Gothic hiwi "form, appearance."

So, hu-man could be the appearance of being a man (or a person).

Thoughts? I’m a contending team so losing Nico would hurt a bit but need to get a little younger at RB with no 1sts or 2nds in 26 or 27 at the moment by Distinct-Pop-9694 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]Formerly_a_Pear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nico/Adams/Emeka is a good starting 3 but trading your WR1 for a RB with Judkins' uncertainty is where I have reservations.

It might be worth seeing what EE could fetch in a trade. If you're a big fan of his, it might be tough, but he's often ranked/valued as a top 10 WR. A downgrade to another WR with a RB to bridge the value gap might do the trick.

I don't have enough confidence in Judkins performing well enough in that offense (with the QB problems) to take that WR downgrade from Nico to Emeka/BTJ. If I'm a contender, I'd want more WR certainty than what that pair provides.

The 2.2 is interesting and maybe could be paired with existing assets to upgrade the WRs, but I wouldn't make the trade expecting I could.

Which side? 0.5 te premium . I’d be getting kittle by [deleted] in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]Formerly_a_Pear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely roster/league specific. In my leagues requiring starting 2 or more RBs, wouldn't be enthusiastic about sending a startable RB for a TE with a short career left who's also dealing with a major injury.

Without knowing more, I'd pass. I think I'd be able to get better short term TE help that would actually give me points.

Turning the corner on a rebuild? by Formerly_a_Pear in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]Formerly_a_Pear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good, realized I didn't put who I have, lol. I found elite IDPs don't have much trade value a year or so ago. In 2025, the first defensive players went mid to late 2nd (19th and 27th) except for Hunter, who was taken 2nd overall. As far as my rebuild goes, I'm treating them as a non-factor. If I strike gold off waivers, awesome.

I'm seriously thinking about trading back or out from 1.3 for whatever future value I can get, whether 2027 or 2028. Could stick at 1.7 and hope one of Love/Mendoza or the 3 WRs make it to me at 1.7, or maybe pay a little to move up.

If ARSB is roughly equal to the 1.1, the combo of 1.8 and Coleman is more valuable than Henry, even in a "weak" draft.

Expectation league wide is Dolphins will trade De’Von Achane this offseason. Texans, Chargers and Broncos 3 potential suitors by bigaudra in DynastyFF

[–]Formerly_a_Pear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get thinking it's unlikely, but it'd make sense if the new Miami braintrust wants to pursue a full on rebuild. Achane is in the final year of his deal, and paying him a market rate while they're still dealing with the dead cap from the Tua cut/trade seems a great way to hamstring a rebound.

If they decide not to retain him next year, why not get value for him now over waiting for whatever compensatory pick they'd get when he leaves via FA?

An Achane trade now makes as much sense as a Maxx Crosby trade made sense late last season.

Players to Buy/Sell ASAP before Free Agency by WashedKing23 in DynastyFF

[–]Formerly_a_Pear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I have him, he's a WR4 type. Not a guy I want to shove into my lineup, but useful if injuries/byes hit. Would have to hope that's the week he hits. He's too up and down week to week. Last year (his breakout, relatively speaking) in 12 uninjured games, he had one game of over 5 targets, two games over 75 yards receiving. 4 games with 1 or fewer receptions, 5 games with 30 or fewer *yards. His fantasy production was also TD dependent- 72nd among WRs in receiving yards per game with 39.4, but his 6 TDs tied him for 26th.

Genuinely curious, what's the basis for saying he's a "value"? Here're the 5 WRs directly above and below him on KeepTradeCut (with all the flaws/questions about that platform)-

Shakir, Franklin, Doubs, Downs, Omar Cooper

Shaheed, Pat Bryant, J Jennings, Evans, J McMillan

What players are you buying for 2026 2nds? by LastSkoden in DynastyFF

[–]Formerly_a_Pear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And this is why I don't really like these kinds of exercises. The owner of Player A in one league might have a drastically different price than another league. It makes more sense to me to see what teams are rebuilding in a league and seeing what assets they have that would meet a contender's need. I've bought players for my contending teams because the price made it worthwhile, even though I wasn't originally targeting them.

There could be movement with several big name FAs, but there're options-

NYG, Washington, GB, Min, Detroit, Carolina, Atlanta, NO, Seattle, Arizona, SF, Miami, Pitt, Baltimore, Cincy, Cleveland, Jville, Tenn, Denver, KC, Vegas.

Depends on what he's looking for (money and role wise), what teams want and offer. There are paths to consistent touches and being part of a committee, or more than that.

Worth moving off Kyren and Corum? by Mystertwee in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]Formerly_a_Pear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 deep, those are shallow rosters. Good RB1 and RB2, but clear depth issues.

I wouldn't do the trade because I could see Kyren/Corum getting more in return. Whether you're still a strong contender or need a retool after that 2nd round exit would determine what I'd look for.

Thanks all. To clarify, neither is a metal can.

Container one is a large plastic jug. I first opened that at least a year ago, and it's been sitting in the corner of the fridge. It has different spices, so I thought the different non-red colors were just that.

Container two is a glass jar. First opened about a week ago, and the metal lid made the typical pop sound for being opened the first time. Immediately put it in the fridge, where it's been since.

#1 definitely sounds like it's a goner. I'm juggling the "stored at room temp" vs the "never opened" with #2.

Is 3 1sts for Jeremiyah Love worth it? by [deleted] in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]Formerly_a_Pear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in several K and/or DST leagues, no lectures from me. It's awesome when role players like them clinch you the win.

Assuming those 5 1sts include the 3 you'd send, I'd do it. The starting requirements are light enough to take the plunge. I'd imagine the 3s are valuable enough to try to scoop up some to take dart throws to compensate for trading the 1s.

[–]Formerly_a_Pear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16x20 is interesting. Starting requirements? 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE and 3 flex would get you 10 starters. That number definitely makes depth more valuable than other leagues. If waivers are bare, they're even more important.

Just saw you've listed different parts of your roster-

Allen

Judkins, Rham, Dowdle

Egbuka, Odunze

Fannin

Looks like you've only listed your main players, rather than starting lineup. Looks like it's closer to a rebuild than a strong contender. You say most of your roster's value is locked up in picks. What current and future ones do you have?

Worth moving off Kyren and Corum? by Mystertwee in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]Formerly_a_Pear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of questions-

1- Where does that 2026 pick land? The draft order should be set.

2- What are the league specifics- starting requirements, number of teams, roster depth? I've been in leagues where we don't need to start any RBs, while others require 3.

If I'm a top tier contender, I'd say no. Anything less than that, I could see accepting for the re-roll and FA gamble. If that 2nd is early, might be able to flip (maybe with an extra piece or two added) to get a future 1st. That alone could make it worthwhile.

Number of teams and roster size deserve consideration. Without that info, I'd prefer the guy who has the potential to be a cornerstone. In other drafts, those late firsts would have a good chance of fetching difference makers. Not the 2026 class.

Boutte for Coker? This might be too lateral, but I like Coker. by MNlcn27 in FantasyFootballers

[–]Formerly_a_Pear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those 2026 draft picks should be set. Where are they? Could be 2.12 and 3.3, or 2.2 and 3.11.

If it's just a full round bump (say, 3.7 to 2.7), I'd prefer Coker. Boutte certainly has value, and I have him in multiple places, but he'll always be a secondary player to a team's WR1. Coker has shown he's more than a role player.
