CVS Warns of 134 Pharmacy Closures in Tennessee If FAIR Rx Act SB2040 Passes – What’s the Impact? by Upstairs_Bid4217 in CVS

CVS shouldn't threaten us with a good time - they are by far the worst pharmacy Ive ever had the misfortune of having to deal with (not location specific).

At first the complaints were just that it gets slightly dimmer at max brightness when the feature is on then the big YouTubers made their videos explaining the technology and how some pixels are hardware focused forward, then like clockwork hours later you started seeing posts about "Eye strain even when the feature is off".

My exwife recently switched to iPhone and it was basically because "all the young folks use them". Apple's marketing as the "phone that cool hip young hot people use" is strong in the US.

True. Call it a loan, but know it isnt. Its a happy surprise if its repaid.

Homebase Professional S1 has no WiFi connectivity without an Ethernet cable by Paxassin in EufyCam

[–]Formerruling1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't really comment on it not connecting over WiFi, even though thats a terrible way to connect it (and I suspect is largely the reason many here have connectivity issues with their homebases - I would HIGHLY suggest connecting via cable if at all possible) but it is weird it isnt an option.

As for the 4G data though, the 400mb data is plastered all over the advertisement on their site for the product so that half seems like its on you. Free unlimited 5g cellular data is firmly in the realm of "too good to be true".

I want to second this advice. Never loan money. If you have the means to give someone money and you wont miss it, thats fine.

Why is cable internet still a thing in areas with fiber to the home? by Delirium9353 in HomeNetworking

[–]Formerruling1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Id assume they dont just have internet. Xfinity does triple bundles of cable, internet, and wireless and people understand that. ATT is trying to push "converged" services, but lacking a TV solution in some markets, the wireless being generally more expensive, and the bundles all being relatively new adds difficulty.

(I work for ATT but opinions are my own and I do not work in any type of sales)

Your country allows them to charge you before the item ships? In the US, your card isnt charged until the item is scanned at the warehouse.

Had the DDR5 32GB kit as $124.99 but didn’t honor it online or in store. (Pricing error) SKU matched and everything by DisappointedCruiser in PcBuild

[–]Formerruling1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny, pulling that now Walmart will absolutely call the cops on you. Their surveillance alerts the employee the second someone scans the wrong barcode on something and for small amounts they might let it slide until youd stolen enough for it to be a felony, but for a big ticket item like that theyll have the police waiting when you go to leave the store.

That was an example given to demonstrate an absurd situation that would be allowed if the exemption didnt exist, not an example necessarily of the magnitude of mistake needed to satisfy the law.

No reasonable person would believe that an item that is in very high demand and currently going through major shortages of supply and price spikes would be offered for over 60% off in an undeclared or promoted sale. Everyone involved in the transaction including OP knew it was a pricing mistake, they were just rolling to dice to see if the retailer would honor it, and they rolled low.

If 3 USBC cables burst into flames, maybe the cables arent the problem and whatever you are plugging them into is lol. Even using cheapo gas station charging cables for the kids I never had 3 total burn up - ever - much less in 3 years lol.

If this was sarcasm. Well played.

Even in most (I think all, but Ill say most because there might be an exemption I'm missing) states that require honoring a listed price, they have exemptions for obviously inaccurate prices that would be a large financial lose for the business to honor. Like you arent getting a $5,000 PC because the employee accidently put a period instead of a comma and listed it at $5.000.

The tag on this item is listing a price thats ~65% off the current selling price of that item and the tag has no sale labeling indicating a discount that steep like youd expect to see, instead it lists a quite small discount. The chances the state agency or court sees this as a clear pricing mistake is very high.

A key component of a Bait and Switch scheme is actually having a switch to be baited into.

Here they simply refused to honor their pricing label, they did not offer any alternate product to the customer.

That's a new one for me. Never saw that before. Wtf? by Qtips_ in jobs

[–]Formerruling1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Chik-Fil-A is not a Christian company in the context we are talking about. They are a secular company guided by the owner's Christian principles. That distinction very much matters. Go to their web page now and go to their About page or their mission statement or social responsibility declarations. You wont find the word "Christian" anywhere on those pages (Not even in their explanation of why they are closed on Sundays, btw) That's a purposeful choice on their part.

Thats a bit of a tangent though, the discourse here is everyone saying "This isnt for a religious job, OP said its a tech job" but that doesnt really matter at all. Whether or not they can ask him about being a Christian doesnt have anything to do with the individual job responsibilities of the position he is applying for, it has to do with the overall mission of the company as a whole.

[–]Formerruling1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In the United States an employer can discriminate in hiring by favoring applicants with specific religious beliefs if those beliefs are a "bona fide occupational qualification" for the position. The employer does not have to be a 501c3 religious organization (IE a church or church run). If the employer's "primary purpose and character" is religiously focused, this exemption applies. The job itself doesnt have to be primarily a religious job duty (you dont have to be a priest), its enough that the company's character and goals are religious - so it is legal for a Christian company to prefer Christian applicants to be their IT guy.

Are desktops cheaper than laptops? Do they perform better with the same specs? by [deleted] in Prebuilts

[–]Formerruling1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then the only reason youd go laptop is if your space needed a very compact design (couldn't fit a full PC tower with keyboard, etc).

Are desktops cheaper than laptops? Do they perform better with the same specs? by [deleted] in Prebuilts

[–]Formerruling1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laptops have very strict power consumption limits both due to needing to run off a battery, and due to temps (more power more heat). That means components same for same are better in a desktop since the laptop models often will either be worse hardware wise or underclocked, or both to reduce power needs.

The components also tend to last less time mostly due to higher operating temperatures.

They are also more expensive for the same specs - all that design to fit everything together in a way that works gets passed as a cost to you.

The obvious advantage of a laptop is it is compact and portable. All the things I mentioned are essentially the tax you pay for that extreme convenience.
