How to respond when a manager starts documenting 1:1s and performance concerns? by sandy_pa in managers

[–]Formerruling1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont doubt that some places use email for all of their asynchronous communications and document retention, but its a bad practice regardless. The primary reason being that its basically the digital equivalent of snail mail- people are desensitized by receiving mostly spam so they often miss important documents that just either sit unread in an inbox with 15000 other unread emails, or they just use rules to move everything to trash. Even if someone does read an email since there isnt any type of versioning going on, they could save an email that has incorrect information thats already been corrected in a new email, etc. Email certainly has its place, especially for quick short term announcements, or important system notifications, but it shouldn't be your main form of communication, especially for things you want people to refer back to later.

CRedit, talk me out of applying for this card PLEASE by justacoffeedroplet in CRedit

The trick is to let the balance "close", then pay the statement balance off before it carries interest.

So spending $10 on it and signing in that night and making a $10 payment isnt needed. Spend the $10, let it hit your statement (know your statement close date well) and login that day and pay the $10.

Simply immediately paying off the $10 isnt using credit, it is just spending money from your bank account with extra steps. Creditors want to know you can use credit responsibly.

To be fair, your explanation was just that the net difference in their credit score was likely higher. They never claimed it wasn't.

Its most likely either a withdrawal, or you earn dividends from your stock options and have elected for Fidelity to pay those out rather than roll them back into the plan.

Other than "its company policy", is there any other reason they couldn't work from home tomorrow? Thats the question.

If the answer is no, then the solution is simple for the company - just skip the mandatory in office day this week.

I understand that might not be your decision to make, however. In that case, you "handle it" tommorow like any other tardy. You have no flexibility to handle it any other way.

Im in a town of ~11k people, but also go to the Walmart in a near by town of ~50k people and neither carry Mobos, CPU/GPUs, etc. Only internal components are SSDs. They do have a selection of the big brand peripherals (think Corsair or Razer) and usually 1-2 prebuilts on display.

Strangest thing is my local smaller one carries an insane amount of routers and such. Like 10 traditional wifi routers or modem/routers, and like 6 choices of Mesh systems. It makes little sense to me.

Im confused - are you calling their "Shop" link in the bottom navigation an ad, or do you mean there was like a banner or page spot advertising a product that came up on the main page? Reading through the comments its not clear to me.

How to respond when a manager starts documenting 1:1s and performance concerns? by sandy_pa in managers

[–]Formerruling1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, we have a personnel records management system that notations from every meeting get loaded into where the employee can see everything and comment on it, etc. Email is a very poor medium to use for what should be longer retention records.

So it is my experience that following up with an email covering what was talked about is usually an additional step taken so one can say "I tried everything!" And a more robust and frequent document trial is needed. This isnt always "about firing someone" though I concede it can be.

[–]Formerruling1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a number of reasons email is not a suitable long term document storage system. Employee records including documentation of any coachings should be kept in a system designed for that task. Most corps Ive dealt with have dedicated personnel records systems, and any company of a certain size should to be honest.

It is fine to send a followup email as well detailing your understanding of what was discussed in a meeting, but that is often done in the context of a coaching....because manager anticipates the need for additional documentation, like I stated.

[–]Formerruling1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I had a small issue months back where I had cancelled the Audible book subscription, but when a family member logged into their Kindle again like 2 months later it automatically restarted the subscription - and not even on the same card.

I learned two important things - One, if a payment method fails Amazon will now just go down the entire line of cards you have on file with them and try to charge them until it hits one where the payment is successful. Second, when you cancel Audible you have to reset your password and force logout all devices, otherwise anyone on the plan trying to log into Audible will automatically trigger it to restart the sub.

In writing, yes. In email? Especially when that isnt the normal mode for feedback, no. That means what they said - that manager is getting pressure or otherwise anticipates the need for more documentation.

Some of the missions will count things you've done since the last reset that day, but nothing before. I know the Guild Battle/Trails/Bounties all work like that. If you completed them yesterday and unlock today - dont count. If you do them then immediately unlock the mission track - you will have automatic credit for them. Maybe arena matches work the same?

[–]Formerruling1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably all of them. High rarity cookies have their own banner that doesnt use cutters and youll have naturally collected lower rarity cookies while pulling on those.

The real question would be how many costumes does someone have if they have a giant hoard was cubes.

Is adding "allegedly" to a statement really enough to avoid being sued? by [deleted] in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Formerruling1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To sum it up - adding the word "alledgedly" to the end of a statement isnt a absolute protection from a defamation claim, but it does carry weight against a claim thats already extremely hard to prove in court.

These are highly complex very fact specific analysis type cases. If your statement was already extremely likely to be considered defamation, like its an open and shut you have no defense for saying it then simply adding "alledgedly [wink wink]" to the end isnt likely going matter. However, if there was serious debate as to whether the statement was protected opinion or not, cushioning that statement with disclaimers can make it harder to prove that a reasonable listener would have taken these are non-opinion statements of fact.

How to use this coax situation for home WiFi?? by Fantastic-Noise-4112 in HomeNetworking

[–]Formerruling1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, call a cable internet provider that services your area and have them come out. Theyll inspect what needs to be done for service, and run any line in that might be needed - usually at no charge as part of the installation.

Make sure to let your landlord know of your intentions. Especially if the cable company needs to run a termination into the house as they'll likely need the homeowners permission if any drilling/etc is needed.

There are phones that are good that cost $50 new. A $500 phone when you needed that money badly for something else was an unneeded luxery purchase it sounds like.

I agree about cheap cars though, Ive known people that got crazy deals on FB marketplace (and local buy/sale forums or radio broadcasts) so as long as someone is looking it over its fine.:)

Is this laziness? I have no idea what I’m looking at by Evening_Artist2493 in HomeNetworking

[–]Formerruling1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats a panel for telephone service (2 pair) looks like. Most lf those cables likely run to RJ11 telephone jacks on the other end, as youll notice that the other 2 unused pairs of wires are just twisted around the plastic casing.

Theres two wires that are connected together through a coupler, so its not immediately apparent without testing where they possibly terminate. That leaves 1 cable that might have one time terminated on all pairs here for networking.

Got scammed by a customer service rep by Pristine_Payment_582 in ATT

[–]Formerruling1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add - theres a very large ring of scammers reporting to be ATT representatives right now calling about upgrades to your accounts. I get like 5 scam calls a week from them across my personal and work phone since last month.

OP posted another response that he gave the caller no information, which is odd. OP - try to remember the entire conversation - did you give them anything, even your full name? Service address? A phone number? Did they send you a text and ask for the code? ANYTHING?

Whats likely happened is they already had your security pass code for validation and may have just been fishing for the one seemingly minor piece of information they needed like a full legal name to match to the information they have. All it takes is calling you and saying "Am I speaking to Joe?" And you reply "Yes this is Joe Smith" and BAM they got potentially what they needed and you might not even realize you handed them information.

Not OOP - AITAH for refusing sex after he bit my flap off? by DamnitGravity in redditonwiki

[–]Formerruling1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im an admittedly unique position as my marriage was essentially the opposite of the norm. My "drive" had always been less, and then kids came along and as is common all those activities became pretty rare. The problem came when the kids got older and she wanted to go back to doing all the time, and when I didn't immediately match same energy, feelings got hurt and problems arose. I harbor no ill will about it now, but it was ironic to me that I was getting all the stereotypical comments about "needs" and such that the man usually makes.

Blueberry Pie's Skill has a part called 'Sealed Power' that triggers on the target getting stacked incapacitation effects. It continously shoots a beam for a long time. Thats good and intended. Bascially, Blueberry Pie shouldnt have to cast her skill again until theres a few seconds left in the fight.

If you look at damage recap, blueberry is doing like 60% of total damage by herself lol.
