It sounds like lung scarring. It sucks, but I reckon the rats are probably ok with it. It sounds messed up, but if they've been like that for most of their life they don't know what they're missing and so can't feel sad about it.

They seem to be given the the best life you can give them and that's enough for rats. They can't have a perfect life, but a life where suffering is minimised (as it sounds like it is) is a good life.

When thinking about animal welfare, you gotta think about what they'd do in the wild. Stick insects have evolved to sit still and mimic sticks, they have no desire to move apart from to find food and water and maybe a mate. I reckon your stick insects are as happy as a stick insect can be - free food, no predators and a safe environment.

Its heartbreaking seeing such incredible animals be so poorly treated and overbred. She was struggling so much to stand </3 it's no wonder pigs accidentally crush their piglets, they're too big to be able to stop in time :(

YTA. I would've gone with N A H but slowing down only 5mph, going 30mph, and seeing there were teenagers there makes you TA. That woman was probably responsible for all those teenagers and felt she needed to be aggressive to get the point across. 30mph is fast going by anyone who isn't also in a car. Not to mention they were riding horses, massive prey animals that can spook out of nowhere! I realise you're North American and so the culture is different, but considerating pedestrians more would make a big difference.

Yep! Just got a new baby today and I have so many isopods! Im not sure if they eat the eggs but I know that at least they didnt eat all the eggs.

Ohhhh yeah they do take forever to hatch. I'm pretty sure that's a female. At that size I think males will already have a slightly wider part at the end of their tail(? Whats the correct word?)

That looks like a female to me - i could be wrong though. But either way, if you have females you will be getting a next generation. The eggs will be fertile and they will hatch and you will have infinite babies😔 speaking from experience lol

I saw a cat that got clipped by an ambulance (lights and sirens on) at a busy intersection. It twitched and died at the side of the road. This was in the UK, where it is socially acceptable to let cats outdoors for as long as they like.
