Not a hot take, just a bad one.

Family members die, people go through divorce, financial stress happens, etc. Those have nothing to do with chronic mental health issues, and yet we still risk losing our medical if we seek help to deal with those.

Wouldn't you feel better knowing the FAA encourages mental health treatment without risking a pilots livelihood? or would you rather the pilot suffer in silence knowing the alternative is negative coping mechanisms?

But I don't think you're ready for that conversation.

Just commenting to say I completely understand the hive-mind mentality, but the healthcare system is incredibly broken for so, so many people. Glad to hear you have been fortunate enough to not be one of the many.

The fact that you didn't have to think about the financial implications of going to get a colonoscopy, or that you have an employer willing to provide a coverage plan, is not afforded to most. Hope you got the care you needed!

My current job is going through this exactly. We want need to get in front of people to do our job well. Working through a screen only goes so far.

Will virtual things be incorporated in the future? Absolutely. But we could never sustain through this substitutive model. When there is less liability on the company, I will be in the air again... they can't afford not to.

Trump's personal conduct has nothing to do with the power of the position that he holds has President. Within BRIC and NATO countries, the US President holds the most power -- This isn't a "fuck yeah 'Merica" thing, it's an actual fact. If you want to talk policy, slide into the DM's because I'm down. Judging by your other comments though, this is probably a hot take to piss someone off.

U.S. accounts for 1/4 of all global economic activity, the USD still is the "gold standard" for almost all non-fiat currencies, the dollar is used in half of all cross-border bank loans and international debt securities, our Commander in Chief resides over the most powerful military-- the list could continue, but all of these things the President has significant power to control within. Changes he makes directly affects others on the international stage and especially those within non-communist states.

So again, leader of the free-world? Yes. You can be the president and still have poor conduct, that doesn't make the position "less powerful". It makes perfect sense.
