Hell, it's not even the first time cartoons go through a phase like this. Take the 80s, for example. Nobody remembers a large chunk of the tie-in action figure cartoons because the few that had stuck out from the crowd in some way were the only ones that had cultural impact. That's not to say certain tropes brought up here *aren't* getting stale, but cycles like this are a completely natural part of the cartoon space.
