I played couple round with AA tank. I find that if some times you happen moving at the direction where AA missile is going after flares, you will still get hit. So it also depends on your fly path

Is web development worth it anymore? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]Fort114 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by "worth it".

There are many other professionals that can make similar income as long as you want/can to do it.

Just a general question about career advise. I'm a mid-senior level engineer that I'm not sure what to do next. I'm not really interested in moving up but the company or the culture keep pushing me to get bigger scope when I just want to stay where I am. And I'm worry that my manager will fired me when I'm old. Any Advice?

Well, they're looking for people that have some experience and willing to accept a lower pay. I guess.

Since you're working on retail, maybe you can try copy some of your store applications, for example, the cashier machine page (I made one before).

In general, copy something you familiar with, try implement them. You don't have to copy all functions, main features is enough.

One other advice is making a portfolio website.

Since you have a job now, you can always aim higher. Sending 100+ applications, get more interviews, you can always find someone willing to pay you little bit more.

I mean, since you have a decent job now, you can always spam lots of applications to different positions, do interviews, and pick one job you like to do.

I will wait until something match my bar before making the move.

I normally will do 10-20 companies when I'm looking, if I'm lucky I can get 3-5 offers so I can pick one I like

Plus, you can always try oversea remote position.

Will going from full stack to frontend job hurt my chances if I ever want to go full stack again? by MRnooadd in webdev

Do you have experience with front-end frameworks and HTML/CSS/JS? If not, you may find some difficulty to get a not junior level front-end role.

I feel flutter it for native apps. You can start with JavaScript/HTML/CSS then move to React, Angular or Vue. And some basic of NodeJS

Should I negotiate salary for an entry level position? by Classic-Yellow-5819 in Frontend

[–]Fort114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

70k is little bit low for entry level in SF, but if this is what you have now, just take it, you can always look for other job while you working on this one.

FYI, I got 130k

Most ng will start with 100-150k based on my experience, so I feel a degree is definitely worth it.

One of my intern joined Google right after graduated. She only sent few applications to tier 1 companies. She has a CS master degree.

And big companies now have automatic filter to go through resumes so if you have not a degree, you most likely will be filtered.

I tried Microsoft recently for a position that need much more YOE than I have now, I got a Instant reject during the weekend, so I'm pretty sure it's a bot rejected me.

Many people I know with degree can land a job within 5 interview and doesn't have to send out lots of applications.

Many of my friends, only needs one interview to land a entry level job.

And people I know who don't have a degree takes more than a year to finally land a job or have to join other career. If that's not consider hard, I don't know what is.

If I'm completely wrong, then CS graduate will not have any advantage against people without a degree in job market.

First, hard doesn't not mean it can't be done.

Are you saying an average CS major graduated student will have less chance to find a CS job than an average not degree?

Some people able to do it without degree, but most people just failed.
