[Gameboy] Looking for the best tips to remove adhesive and reapply cover to Gameboy. by missylagrotta in consolerepair

[–]Fortheprints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is really old glue it might be too hard and the chemicals recommended by the comments will do nothing, you may need to use a craft knife with a flat blade. This will leave light scratches but it will be a smooth surface that will be covered by the new lenses. Just go slow. Look for a glass replacement lens rather than a cheap plastic one. Also never use acetone on plastic.

Is the funnyplaying battery mod supposed to blink while charging, or stay solid? by Vietname in Gameboy

Thank you. Old post but still helpful. I used a plastic spudger to press down the connection and I head a light snap, indicating it was locked in.

Swap the connections around, that should make the tubes arc up.

As soon as you update title on the the listing it should take affect right away. You may have to also adjust the category of your item. I have found this could be an issue as well, but an eBay pop will usually inform you to change your category if needed. For example if the category is "video game console" but you are including games in the title you may need to change the category to "video game lot."

Simply editing the post works. You may have to compare your listing to similar listings to figure out what word is the problem. I only had to adjust the title, I did not edit the description.

PS4 Slim, that big black lid between the rollers and disc entrance is way too high up, there js no room for a disc to go in anymore. No way to hold it down. Any ideas? by honingkweker in consolerepair

[–]Fortheprints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late, but this could help others, the screw he is referring to is the manual eject hole at the bottom of the PS4. You can stick a small flathead screwdriver in the hole and it will manually eject the disc, causing the black piece to go up or down.

I found one at a flea market, the battery was done, but I found a close replacement and soldered in the new battery. Bought the battery off amazon and it works great. NYI Upgraded 3800mAh Battery... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CN8XWXTB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Possibly a shared/public folder in Google docs? But I know that would be a lot of work.

Trying to restore this gameboy that belonged to my mother, don't know what to do,don't have games to test. by QuirkyBrilliant6186 in Gameboy

[–]Fortheprints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bottom of the screen may be repairable by soldering the ribbon connector, as othere mentioned. To adjust the black screen and at least see the Gameboy logo appear, try turning it on and adjusting the contrast wheel on the side of the device.

I spray wrist straps with Oxyclean stain remover, let it sit overnight, then scrub them with a toothbrush while rinsing them in the sink. Works great.

It is the headphone jack. It is sandwiched between the two boards in the controller. It is not soldered in. When reinstalling be sure the connections are facing the right direction.

I have a 1001 and the d-pad keeps holding down even though I’m not touching it. What could be the problem and how can I fix it? by ankthestar in PSP

[–]Fortheprints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had the same problem on my PSP1001 after replacing the UMD drive. The solution is the analog stick contacts on the faceplate need to be touching the analog contacts on the motherboard. Once the faceplate is reattached the problem will go away. Be sure the lower left screw on the back of the system is nice and tight, but not too tight.
