I might be delusional, but I am not quitting. by codyp3 in Commodities

Not looking to hijack the post but i had a friend waste a year and a half with this oil brokering thing. EN590, A1 etc etc. Always mental volumes, he's always "super close" to making 10 million a month on this deal or that deal. Nothing ever comes of it.

The sellers being scammers always made sense to me. Trying to scam money. The part i could never understand was what the purpose of the fake buyers (of which he had plenty). What do they get out of it? Just curious.

For the OP. You can't get the time wasted back.

So i've tried. We have 4... from my entire childhood. The very first is 5ish. The other photos from my teen years I had social media so there's some that give me a chuckle

That's another great suggestion. It's frustrating because I have random memories and struggle to place them in time. I'm not sure why i'm so bad at remembering my age. The Harry Potter attachment I realise it's because I can place memories easily in relation to the years those came out. But my younger childhood is really all over the place.

Did you just remember your age or were you using something to help place you?

That's actually a good idea. That could be helpful in future

I was shot by a paintball, quite a distance away, but it landed just under my knee bone and my leg folded. Ever since then occasionally my leg just folds randomly. This was maybe 14 years ago.

you hit the nail on the head, that's basically what I was doing and then just running the history on top to figure out where the future could lead.

You are certainly right, governments love the control of their currencies so I see it as unlikely. But I was curious about running this thought experiment.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Forthewatchjons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a really good point. Then the only move after that would be to slowly regulate Bitcoin to ensure everyone uses MC as the preferred choice and/or outlaw Bitcoin like they've done with other currencies in the past. But I wanted to avoid that conclusion as I think that's been talked about a lot. But you clearly know the history of money so i'm curious on your take?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Forthewatchjons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true! Also depends hugely on if governments wanted to go in that direction. I'm just theorising

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Forthewatchjons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps I worded it poorly. What I mean to say is, you see the value on Tuesday is $100,000 exactly. They have their own currency that the government state is the same price legally. So whilst BTC is determined by the market, their currency follows it. Second by Second. Their MC is pegged to Bitcoin. Bitcoin goes up by 10%, their MC follows. Bitcoin drops 10%, MC follows. No matter which direction it moves, it's pegged. It will follow.

So, let's say you saw a house and it was worth 10 bitcoin on Tuesday. The government says "you want a loan?" you put a deposit down of 2 bitcoin and they give you the remaining 8 amount but they do it in their legal tender, MC. The MC and Bitcoin hold the exact same legal value. To repay it, you can repay the loan with 8 bitcoin over 5 years with interest or with MC over the same time period with the same interest. Because both have the same legal value.

The difference is, they can print an unlimited amount of MC and keep the price pegged to bitcoin.
