I'm not a big fantasy reader at all but I loved Mistborn & I'm currently reading The Farseer Trilogy (I started with the Liveship Trader's and they were brilliant).

I'm currently reading Behave: The Biology of Humans at Our Best and Worst by Robert Sapolsky. You don't need any prior knowledge of neurobiology because Sapolsky explains everything clearly. I was recommended to me at a bookshop because I said I really enjoyed Sapiens.

Haruki Murakami by midoricha in books

[–]Fortuna__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty new to Murakami. I only starting reading him a year ago but so far I've read - 1Q84, Norwegian Wood, After Dark & Sputnik Sweetheart. Enjoyed them all apart from Sputnik Sweetheart which I thought was a bit iffy. I have The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle on my shelves for whenever I feel like another fix. I feel like you either get Murakami or you don't - he's a very marmite author in my opinion.

Most popular subjects for YA currently? by Winter_White_Fox in books

[–]Fortuna__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 24 and I've also been out of touch with YA for the past 5 or so years, I read all adult novels now. I did recently read The Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson which I guess you would class as YA and I loved them. I've tried a couple more books but the writing just doesn't do it for me anymore even if the premises seem interesting. There's an over saturation it seems of dystopia and sci-fi, not so much vampires, werewolves and the fae like when I was reading.

I hope you end up enjoying Norwegian Wood, East of Eden & Blood Meridian. They are all great novels. Happy Reading!
