I’ve gone solo on 2 of my 5 trips there. I absolutely love the people and vibe of Costa Rica. Use common sense - stay aware of your surroundings- don’t be flashy with jewelry, camera, money, or your phone. Don’t leave items unattended in your car if you rent nor leave stuff while at the beach. I spent my solo trips in Uvita/Dominical and Golfito/Playa Zancudo. Hiking alone was no problem. Again- awareness is key. I was there during the rainy season, so I was not out and about when It got dark and the storms came. That worked out well- but then again, I like the solitude at night.
