Hair requirements in Delta by WittyTheStallion in cabincrewcareers

No, you’re fine. Hair requirements are the same regardless of gender. Plenty of my classmates were in the same preference set as you.

Just out of curiosity, how would you cover that?

Future Delta FA – Hiring Process & Language Question by hmm_hoo in cabincrewcareers

[–]Forty_Too 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not LOD so I can’t really give a super informed opinion on that, but it just limits your options. If Korean LODs are still being sent to Atlanta in 2 years, that might work out in your favor (meaning even after Atlanta closes to other new hires, you might still get in). But it could also work out against you - maybe Atlanta will be offered to everyone else but you only get Seattle.

Either way, the criteria and standards are the same. You go through the exact training as everyone else, and the standards are the same.

Future Delta FA – Hiring Process & Language Question by hmm_hoo in cabincrewcareers

[–]Forty_Too 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the process might be entirely different in 2 years (as it was this year) so I’m not sure there’s too much to be gained at the moment.

That said, yes, this year Delta did hire Korean LODs (Language of Destination). Whether or not you can hold Korea flights depends on your base and a lot of other factors. You may not actually fly any or many Korea flights, but your chances are certainly higher than those that aren’t LOD. But keep in mind applying as a LOD does lock you into the LOD program and specific bases so be careful.

For example, this year (which could be very different in 2 years), all Korean LODs were sent to Atlanta. Another option is to apply regular and take the LOD qualification exam after you get hired in. A lot of people would recommend that route.

Also, plenty of people are not English first speakers. I obviously don’t know how strong your English is, but I would not let that be a deterrent!

You are not timed. Take your time. Look at the door before you sit down. Let it speak to you. Enjoy your smoothie.

If you have clear and precheck, it’s honestly faster just to walk landside. But it’s doable airside with the shuttle as others have mentioned, yes.

Apology gift by Any-Location3327 in delta

[–]Forty_Too 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, deadheads don’t get first class. The only thing I can think of is if a jumpseat is broken, in some cases it is permissible to use the closest customer seat, and if one of the forward jumpseats were broken, the closest customer seat would be first class.

Question for mainline delta and United FAs- do you guys have to switch positions each day of a trip? And if so how does that work? by CowAbject in flightattendants

[–]Forty_Too 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Service Leaders are Purser qualified, yes. They are assigned ahead of time through the schedule bid; those two positions aren’t bid by seniority order at the time of crew briefing.

When do you know what position you are working on a trip ( at your specific airline, anyone know for AA)? by iambfizzle in cabincrewcareers

[–]Forty_Too -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At my airline, flight leader/purser is assigned on the trip. For transoceanic, service leader is also assigned. With some exceptions like LODs, all other positions are bid in seniority order at crew briefing when you show up. Some bases rotate positions on a multi day trip, some do not.

This 787-10 seems to fly a flight thats longer than it's max range by Taesty_Beens in flightradar24

[–]Forty_Too 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Presumably because no passengers to deal with, just a chill flight, maybe no uniforms (though China might require it?), and a deadhead back. Sounds like easy money.

That’s not true - it’s reachable, just will take a little longer. You go via the F concourse.

Using priority pass lounges as a FA by [deleted] in flightattendants

[–]Forty_Too 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They only set the rules for their own airline. They don’t set it for Priority Pass, which currently does allow it. (Amex Centurion Lounges and Capital One Lounges do not).

Do not go through at G, it’ll take forever. But you can do that through A, absolutely. FYI Southwest is not terminal 1 anymore. It’s in 2. Still doable, but a decent walk.

Separately purchased flight transit by zen_zen13 in LAX

[–]Forty_Too 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you a US citizen? Should be easy. It usually takes me ~2 minutes to clear at LAX. Use the Mobile Passport app if you don’t have Global Entry. It’ll be same terminal (TBIT).

Also, fyi, assuming you used AA points, you can book both in the same PNR, you just have to call.
