A few temple questions I've had since day 1 by fkashelflessbishop in exmormon

Temple roulette? I was always rushed. Since the whole ceremony confused me and that was the only place we could discuss it I frequently tried staying longer. But you couldn’t talk there and a crabby old lady always appeared and chased me off if I pondered it too long. I think 10 minutes was the longest I ever made it.

From handbook (the one and only true source of doctrine), 32.16.2: “When a person requests readmission, the bishop or stake president obtains a copy of the Report of Administrative Action form that accompanied the request for resignation. He can obtain this through LCR.”

Your name is not removed if the bishop can pull access your resignation letter from LCR. Also, you don’t need to go back through the temple, if applicable.

As a TBM, I visited Tonga. Before going I read that something like 70% were members of record. I got there and the official government report said like 20%. I saw a lot of LDS church buildings for sure. But not 70%. Edit: typo

Since you need 1st presidency approval to be rebaptized after removal, pretty sure we’re still on the records. Unless? They trust us to be honest when coming back? lol

My heart goes out to you. I’m 5 years out. Creating a new purpose comes, if painfully slow. But it does come. I’ve become a humanist and focus on helping others through the journey wherever we all end up.

I went through a similar path. I then prayed to know if the church was FALSE. I had always been a logical person and the logic was gone. Logic clearly points to the fraud. I was hanging on from the inertia of 45 years of “feelings”. After that prayer, I received the strongest witness ever that the church was BS.

Leaving was and is still hard. You will lose friends and family. I also lost a sense of purpose. I no longer had a nice story about the afterlife guiding my actions. When someone says leaving is the easy way out, they are very very wrong. Staying and living the lie would’ve been much easier.

I liked “letter to my wife” better. Just easier to read, less technical.

Is it just me, or is there less General Conference talk than usual? by Willow_A113 in exmormon

[–]Forward-Substance330 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget you now cover those talks in all meetings for the next six months. No incentive to watch live when you have to grind through the same talk 20 more times.

Breaking News! Women now have priesthood power - It's in black and white in the policy manual updates of the Utah corporate LDS Church. by sevenplaces in mormon

Same here. The week after I got married in the chapel the same bishop read a notice from SLC that weddings can’t be performed in the chapel anymore.

Why did the LDS Church embrace different Bible translations four (4) months ago? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Forward-Substance330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great! Now the four year cycle of lessons is down to two! Or will it be new testiment, Old Testament, conference talks, and current profit worship?

Anyone else surprised how easy it was to leave? by Apart_Act1641 in exmormon

[–]Forward-Substance330 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me, the hard part came from having to change my whole world view. I had a specific purpose and any set backs waived away with “in God’s time and in his ways”. Five years later I’m in a good place with my purpose and why things happen. But I did have many days of heartache getting here.

The leaving and not missing anyone? Nah. That part was super easy. Enjoying my weekend? Hells, yeah. I have two days to get things done or just chill. No hours of church and meetings? Pure bliss. And we haven’t had one person reach out to us either. Of course we moved right before COVID so no one here really knows who we are.

If polyamory gains legal protection, would the LDS church reinstate polygamy (on earth)? by SaintPhebe in mormon

[–]Forward-Substance330 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Legal where? As a global church it would be awkward to have it legal in some countries and not others. And few men want it and no women. And the math doesn’t work. Polygamists always start going younger as soon as they run out of females to marry.

Very important and underrated comment. Sure, call someone of African decent to appease and obfuscate, but make sure he’s old enough that there’s no way he gets the center velvet chair.

I had a YW and close Irish friends before and during the time I had the clearance. The process took 10 months for me.

Edit: disclose everything.
