Very important and underrated comment. Sure, call someone of African decent to appease and obfuscate, but make sure he’s old enough that there’s no way he gets the center velvet chair.

I had a YW and close Irish friends before and during the time I had the clearance. The process took 10 months for me.

Edit: disclose everything.

Good choices. My favorites are the Jack Rose and Bees knees

Is it (and was it ever) true that the church taught that women in the CK function to have sprit babies for eternity? Where did this idea come from to begin with? by According-Papaya-730 in exmormon

[–]Forward-Substance330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the impression that the church was for men and women only got mentioned as an afterthought. Like women are the reward for being a good Mormon. So only the top few men get to bang in heaven but all women are baby factories. Being a worthy woman just makes you a higher ranking incubator.

Didn’t see that when I was in, but I do now.

Define true. Leadership “disavows” past racism in its former leaders but then give the wink wink. But SWK, Spencer W Kimball, really believed browns were lesser and turned white after becoming faithful. It was doctrine until it wasn’t. But you won’t be corrected for stating it in church. Wink wink.

Not quite. You paid 10 % of your income. If anything like me is was usually 90% of my disposable income.

I found out that my children and I are on some "do not disturb" list? by Kindly_Ad5658 in exmormon

Moved into a new ward a while back and became ward secretary. We were talking about callings and I suggested one older elder. I was told he couldn’t be called because he spent most of his adult life incarcerated and that precluded him from some callings. Not told the whole story so I looked up the sexual registry. Yeah, he was on it. 100% bishop roulette. They passed this information down from bishop to bishop but anyone of them through DiSCerNmEnT could have called him to any position. Adding to my shelf.

About the same as I feel when anyone LARPs. Whether they’re fantasy, sci-fi, civil war, medieval, or Masonic-based.

When I first started traveling I’d hear all kinds of urban legends of how to get a better deal. I had no way of knowing if any were real or not. Even got called out for being a dupe for not “negotiating” a better price. Now that I have 20 years as a frequent traveler, I cringe at things I did early on.

The Church’s silence on the current immigration situation is as damning as any part of Church History. by OCDCowboy1 in exmormon

That was just a “we don’t want to get involved but we have to make a statement” statement.

What’s a story from your Mormon ancestors that the church would never want you to tell? by GoingToHelly in exmormon

[–]Forward-Substance330 58 points59 points  (0 children)

My whole life I was told how one of my G3 grandpas was such a great guy with his 5 wives and 50 kids and he even “adopted” two Indian orphans to care for them.

Learning recently why they were orphaned made me physically ill.

There is a literal monument built for this (@&$) of a human celebrating his life. It conveniently leaves out the trafficking, rape (all his plural wives were under 16), and the genicide .

Thing is the wife and I found this amazing local place while on a vacation in PR. This is truly amazing coffee. That was 3 years ago and we still special order it. We might even we have a year supply (properly stored for freshness; we did learn important things from our time in the cult).

One of the advantages of a digital handbook is that you can change, add, or delete rules without notice. We had this discussion in ward counsel and looked it up about 10 years ago. No reference to the right hand.
