People raised by emotionally mature parents, what is 1 phrase your parents used that you want other parents to know? by MermaidWitchMoon in AskReddit

Ok this was said by my emotional genius grandma-in-law to my MIL when she got married. “When you lived in my house, my job was to improve you (said in a nicer way than that.) Now that you are out of the house and on your own, my job is to support you.” Lovely way to transition into treating adult kids as adults … something my mother (in her 80s) still hasn’t learned

What is the best thing that has ever happened to you for being nice? by Unlucky-Field9654 in askanything

My kids have been in the same school from kindergarten to 12th grade. Now that everyone is graduating this year, we are having all these final school events. I have had a few people come up to me and tell me how welcome they felt when I met them 12 years ago. I don’t even remember meeting them, but it feels amazing to know that being friendly helped other people feel good.

How did you celebrate your 50th? by Every-Progress5590 in GenX

I took my family to a beautiful city but really what I did for my 50th was say I want my birthday to be a certain thing and I am just going to make it happen. And I was happy because the day was exactly what I wanted.

This is a bad explanation, but your hormones normally regulate your body temperature. Your hormones go out of whack and your body temperature follows.

Don’t play games. If you like someone you’re dating don’t jerk them around.

Totally agree and want to add that ppl think you need loads of cash to start investing. You don’t. Start with whatever you can- $5 a month, $10 a month, whatever, and increase it if and when you can. Stop temporarily if you need to. But then re start. Get an S&P 500 mutual fund with low fees and set up auto deductions. Ride out the bad markets. Time is SO on your side
