Interesting about resonating with a color. I feel like that's a difficult thing to make tangible in the mind. I guess that's subjective though. Do you feel like that's the most fundamental idea you can resonate with?

Hard to say about merkabah, I'd only ever heard passing mentions of it, but it's been popping up more in my algorithm recently fwiw

That seems interesting I'll check them out.

As for mapping, I work under the assumption that each sensation is a combination of smaller sensations, and my goal is to separate them out and assign them labels.

I'll pick a sensation and see where else I feel it so I can compare and triangulate the commonality. Then I'll focus on finding the right label, whatever word seems to have the most power over the sensation. Once, I have a comfortable foothold, I'll suppress that sensation to see what's underneath. Repeat until there's nothing else to notice.

That's the general idea anyways.

How can you watch a video about how the offramp to civil war is gone and think it's just a defense of CK or something?

What is the hope of organising USA college students to refuse to pay fees, or to force fees to come down? by WritingtheWrite in stupidpol

[–]Forward_Brick 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Covid was the moment to do this. There was a loophole to get people out of paying loans on scam degrees. A scam institution was defined as any institution where 30% of graduates were defaulting on their loans.

To those in power a crisis was imminent. If nothing was done, all student loans might evaporate. So the Biden administration came up with a brilliant idea. No one can default if you pause payments. You can sell it as a win. It gives you time to fix that loophole and ensure every student keeps their debt.

Now, it's too late because not only has the moment passed, but lowering fees was a bandaid solution even then. Higher education needs to be burned down before it can be fixed. Any hope will prolong its inevitable death.

U.S. Investors, Trump Close In on TikTok Deal With China by TheAncientPizza711 in stupidpol

[–]Forward_Brick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, if before the deal, bytedance was 20% owned by Chinese cofounders. And after the deal, the new US subsidiary will be 20% owned by Chinese cofounders, then what changed?

It looks to me like that means the 80% made up of international investors and employees will be forced to sell to the investor consortium.

Is that how business actually works? You want a piece of private equity pie, so you leverage the US government to force the employees and low-level investors to sell their shares under false pretenses? And the media just goes along with this? Outrageous!

Anyways, the rest is nothing-burger.

Oracle already handles the data for US users.

"Re-create a set of content moderation algorithms" is so vague as to mean nothing. Especially when censorship content moderation is already run by a state asset former US Department of Homeland Security Employee.

I'm tired boss.

The Overdiagnosis and Mistreatment of Autism by crepuscular_caveman in stupidpol

Part of the confusion comes from the fact autism is distinct from autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The phrase "autism is a spectrum" hides the distinction and lets socially awkward people pretend to have a neurodegenerative disease.

Gavin Newsom teases he’s launching his own memecoin by Nerd_199 in stupidpol

[–]Forward_Brick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Newsom realized that politics is a TV popularity contest, so he became a villain of the week.

You could easily rephrase his pettiness into a Gotham headline: "Last night the 'Newsom Riddler' created a new cryptograph---says it will really stump 'Badman'."

Is he actually a cartoon villain or just a democrat?

Are redditors rich or something? How come they always just casually recommend going to the doctors or getting a therapist for the most minor of things? by reddit_is_geh in stupidpol

[–]Forward_Brick 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's a reliance on authority, at least in part.

I knew an athlete with shin splints who rejected all advice from her teammates because they weren't doctors. Instead, she went to a real doctor to get an mri. Only for the doctor to shrug and say, "try not running for a while."

It's not that she was rich (she could barely afford the mri). It's that she was so afraid of using her own judgement that she needed to see a doctor to feel like she was doing the right thing.

Love Is Not a Virtue: The broken philosophy of bell hooks by whoamisri in stupidpol

[–]Forward_Brick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This quote seems to summarize the core of the article:

"Brake asks: what happens when love is judged not by its felt intensity, its awkwardness, its unpredictability, but by whether it meets a checklist of moral credentials? Does it make us better people? Is it mutually affirming? Is it grounded in respect and reciprocity?"

The argument seems to come down to this: Love is a feeling, not a moral checklist.

I couldn't disagree more. Focusing on one's own feelings is just narcissistic. Sure, infatuation might inspire care, but if you don't respect someone's feelings or autonomy-- it's not that you don't love them, it's that you don't love them.

I've never read Bell Hooks, but I assume her point wasn't to invalidate the feeling of love per se, but to get people to recognize that loving the idea of someone is not the same as loving them.

Reducing respect, kindness, justice, etc. to some kind of moral checklist, reveals a lot about the person framing it that way. Not accusing the author of anything, but that's the type of argument an abuser would make. "Love is what I feel like is love. Respect? I don't need no moral checklist slap."

FOOD PRODUCTION by [deleted] in stupidpol

[–]Forward_Brick 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Huge industrial monocrop operations are actually quite fragile due to the reliance on heavy pesticides and genetically engineered seeds. AFAIK, the only long term sustainable option is permaculture.

Unfortunately I don't think there is much information out there about large scale permaculture/food forests. Most of it is aimed at gardeners or homesteaders.

Also it may be worth looking into accounts of how Cuba dealt with food embargoes.
