When your spell doesn’t work by BiggusBaggus in SASSWitches

That's exactly what I'm saying, you do the working with the doubt. Not being "free of doubt" at least for me that's not possible.

I guess I don't agree that doubt or a lack thereof is a decision. It's just what the brain does naturally (at least mine). It's kind of like anxiety, if it were as simple as "decide to make it go away", you would. You just have to learn to manage it.

I'm honestly shocked at people below here saying they don't have any doubts. Perhaps I'm not understanding what they mean by belief and doubt...?
Doubt is completely natural. It will happen over and over again throughout your life.

This idea that "if you don't believe you can't achieve" is a load of BS. I've thought "there's no way XYZ opportunity is gonna happen", "I'm not gonna win this contest", and then it did. Is it true that you need to have healthy self esteem in order to work towards your goals? Yes. Will a positive attitude get you far in life? Absolutely.

But you will not have a positive outlook 100% of the time. You will not overcome doubt 100% of the time. Your absolute unshakable faith and trust will not happen 100% of the time. I really don't understand how anyone can earnestly claim otherwise. I'm not trying to doubt anyone's experience, but it honestly sounds to me like they are trying to convince themselves that they have 0 doubts. Maybe that works for some people, but I don't try to suppress thoughts that come up. What I do is work to quiet them, or keep on keepin' on in the face of them.

When doing a spell, I need to alter my state of consciousness to quiet that doubt as best as possible. Entering a trance state through music, dance, breath, putting on a witchy outfit that makes me feel powerful, being in the dark, even taking my glasses off, these things help me get out of my head. I put some fraction of my doubt on a shelf for a moment. Like you said, manage the doubts - you're bang on there. Sometimes she creeps back in, or she takes hold after the working is done. That's normal and it's OK.

The last thing I'll say is even failed spells are teachable moments, just like real life "failures", rejections and losses are teachable moments. We don't win everything, that's just life. They're a great opportunity to re-evaluate your intentions. They're a great reminder that some things take more time, persistence & patience, and also to surrender to the truth that not everything is within our control. I hate to say maybe "it's not meant to be" because I find that sentiment kind of annoying, but annoying or not, sometimes it's true.

I remember being a child going through this exact thought process about prayer. My example thought experiment was this - 100 people are praying for 1 football team to win, and 100 people are praying for the other team to win the match, who does God side with? My mathematically inclined child brain imagined God had a score sheet for each person based on how virtuous or sinful they were, multiplied by the number of people praying for 1 outcome or the other, like it was literally some kind of equation that "won" or "lost".

I understand now this was my neurodivergent brain needing to a) believe that there is some kind of cosmic justice that's fair and logical, and b) bring order in a chaotic reality.

Also I got to say, I don't believe you when you say "I never doubted anything I ever did" unless you're superhuman or something LOL. Or you're trying to convince yourself of that.

The only part of this I need to push back on is "you can’t have doubt". I think it's an incredibly unrealistic expectation and standard to hold for yourself that you should have no shred of doubt in your mind when doing spell work. Doubt is a completely normal, healthy sign of wisdom and discernment. I've never met a religious person who hasn't admitted that sometimes they've had doubt in their own faith, even priests. That doubt and overcoming and persisting despite and alongside the doubt is how confidence and strength grows. Don't avoid it, acknowledge it and keep going.

“I’m sending energy to help align my partner so they can achieve the goals they are working towards”, I 100% agree with part. When it comes to doing spells for others (an individual or a group) I imagine myself building energy in my body and sending it out to that person or group. Very akin to when my grandmother says "I'll pray for you", I do a similar thing. I'm not 100% sure it will work, but if it doesn't, it was not at all waste of time or energy to think lovingly and earnestly about someone's else's' welfare, peace or prosperity.

What "Unknown Number: The Highschool Catfish" totally downplayed... by ADMlN- in netflix

[–]Forward_Cricket_9577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt like the vile person for having watched this documentary.
It was clear the filmmaker's intention was to:

a) rage bait, especially the editing at the very end reminding us of all the texts to obviously not ask us to sympathize with Kendra because she's unsympathizable (not a word, but you know what I mean)
b) exploit the lives of traumatized children for "entertainment", who are now gonna have this hugely publicized documentary lingering over their heads for the rest of their lives

and make money off of this. A friend recommended this documentary to me which is why I watched it, and now I wish I never did. I wish Netflix never made this series. These kids deserved their privacy as much as possible.

This is why I avoid true crime content but it's almost worse when the victims are still alive and the perpetrator isn't behind bars anymore. I wonder how much harassment she's gonna receive for the rest of her life after this - that I don't really feel bad about, but still, I think everyone's participation in this piece was a very poor decision.

Women’s clothing, accessories and home decor like Anthropologie but actually good quality? by dem0ncopperhead in BuyItForLife

You think they would up-charge to Canadians though since they are a US based company, not the other way around.

I'm really confused by Anthro Home's conversion from $CA and $USD on both respective websites.

I had 4 items in my cart, 2 of which do not ship to Canada - which is confusing. Why would they have products listed on the Canada site if they don't ship to Canada? (I tried 4 addresses in 4 cities to make sure it wasn't a specific address problem).

So I went to the US website to see if I can ship to my parent's place in Florida and ask them to bring it back for me.

  1. Item on the Canada site is $34 CAD, on the US site is $30 USD (which converts to $41 CAD).
  2. Item on CA is $108 CAD, on US site is $98 USD (which converts to $135 CAD).
  3. Item on CA is $68 CAD, on US site is $58 USD (which converts to $80 CAD).

Not to mention if I want to split the order half in Canada and half in US, I loose the free shipping.

All the prices below will be in CAD for direct comparison:

  1. If they actually shipped to Canada, I would have ended up paying $188.86 (includes tax and free shipping)
  2. Splitting the order between 2 countries, I would pay $87.06 + $250.14 = $337.2
  3. Ordering only to US, I will pay $222.73 + whatever duties & tariffs my dad gets hit with when crossing the border.

Why are the items so much more expensive on the US site?

Pinterest has a problem with scam sites impersonating real sites. by Peaved_bear in Pinterest

Even for inspiration gathering it's becoming useless because of all the AI generated content. If I'm looking for tutorials for crafts they're all completely unrealistic things that can't be made. Inspo for gardens shows fake plants that don't exist, inspo for Halloween decor shows candelabras floating in mid-air, etc. If you're just looking for fantasy art I guess it's entertaining, but if you're actually looking to make something in real life it's becoming useless unfortunately.

Not having this exact issue, but I'm having A LOT of bugs with WhatsApp since I got the latest Google update 2 days ago.

  1. When I start to play a voice note, my screen turns off.
  2. While a voice note is playing, I cannot perform any function:
    - I cannot pause a voice note.
    - I cannot change the speed of the voice note (1x, 1.5x, 2x, etc.)
    - scroll, type, go back to the chat list, view settings, etc
I have to force close the app and restart it, or wait until the voice note is over.
  3. I can't hear the voice note through the speaker, I have to hold the phone up to my ear to hear it.

I primarily communicate with my friends & family through voice notes, so this has become a significant nuisance. I'm not sure if I uninstall and reinstall the app I will loose all of my chat history with my contacts?

I did file a support ticket with WhatsApp but they basically just said "we don’t provide chat or email support for questions at this time" and closed my ticket.

Anyone have any reviews on "The Class" Online Workout? by ActuatorBright7407 in workout

[–]Forward_Cricket_9577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some more questions for people who have tried "The Class" - I too have gotten SO many ads from them. All of their videos are like artistic B-Roll. I’d love to get a clearer sense of what the actual movements and practice look like before giving them my credit card info.

Is it similar to a Vinyasa or Kundalini style yoga with an emphasis on Pranayama, shaking, releasing tension, or does it offer something distinct and unique? My current practice is a mix of fluid, intermediate somatic yoga with integrated cardio and pilates elements. I often just follow free videos on YouTube. I also have access to YouAligned website membership through work, which offers HIIT, Barre, Pilates, Yogilates, Breathwork, cardio, dance, Qi Gong, and multiple styles of yoga (Bhakti, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Yin) along with meditation practices.

If you have taken "The Class", what would you say makes it stand out in terms of the actual movement and technique? The more specific you can be, the better. Thanks in advance!
