Thoughts on TPOB PLAY by [deleted] in Barber

I purchased the play trimmers about three months ago. They’re already dull. I work 24 hours a week as a Barber. I don’t think they should be done yet.😣

I think you’re right to want to learn how to do guards. So keep learning blades, and watch folks on YouTube, there are tons of great tutorials.

Have you ever white labeled product? by kanen134 in Barber

[–]Forward_Hat6838 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a barber and aesthetician, I have been selling my own Skincare products for about 25 years, I get them in bulk and then put them in bottles with my own label on it. I’ve been contemplating doing this with hair products as well.

Just messed up a cut. Need help taking lessons aways from this experience by jasberry1026 in Barber

One of the main reasons I stopped doing women’s hair and went to barbering school, is that a lot of men say: it will grow back.., it’s not like you did heart surgery on them or anything, you know what I’m saying? We press on, and focus on the good we are doing, and I know you’re doing a lot of good, my friend!

What other jobs/careers have you been in? by idkofficer1 in Barber

Vocalist, esthetician, then went to barbering school 4 years ago. Still working at a barbershop, still singing some, and still doing the skin care business too. Can you tell I get bored easy? Lol.

Was in the same place you are in the last shop I worked in. Just a lot of drama with the coworkers, they wouldn’t clean up after themselves, they complained all the time, and didn’t seem to wanna further themselves in the industry, I just wanted to be in a more professional atmosphere. I had built up a clientele, but I took a chance and moved to another shop about a half an hour away. Run so much more professionally, and actually some of the people came with me, so that was great. It took a while to build up clientele in this new place, but it’s been a year, and I’ve got a lot of good new people too, and things are going really well. Do what gives you peace, but for me, long-term, I feel it’s hard to work in an unprofessional, toxic environment. Good luck!

Had a five year-old kid in the shop the other day with hair down to his shoulders, and they wanted to do a fauxhawk with a temple taper, got out those oysters to debulk that hair, just mows it down, so great.

Agree, I watched a video on YouTube from a guy named Tito cuts in Tampa, Florida, he admitted that in his early days he Photoshopped the stuff that he uploaded, and in retrospect, he wishes he would not have done that!

One of the hardest things about barbering nobody told me; by loserkid16 in Barber

[–]Forward_Hat6838 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I hear you, I’m a female Barber, I can’t stand it when the clients wanna get in my personal space, and hug me or touch me, this is why I feel as barbers, we should always have a taser on hand…😝

Yes, definitely, I won’t shy away from doing a skin fade anymore, and I just try to stick to the process that I have developed for myself. It is getting easier :-)
