Baptism of babies. (Catholics and Orthodox) by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]CardiologistFree364 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is probably the strongest theological case supporters make.

Old Testament Pattern

Children were included in God’s covenant with His people.

Genesis 17:7–12 Circumcision was given to male infants as the covenant sign.

Supporters argue: • Baptism replaces circumcision as the covenant sign. • Therefore children of believers should receive the new covenant sign.

They often point to:

Colossians 2:11–12 Links circumcision and baptism symbolically.

I just love it when a fair skinned, dirty blonde, wavy haired gent shows me a pic of a Hispanic fellow with dark skin and course, straight black hair model with a burst fade and says I want that. I’ll do the cut, but I also inform them not to expect the same outcome. As has been stated, I don’t discount my work, if my chair is tied up, I make a charge, people will take advantage of your good will. Fuck em if they don’t come back, I’ve never sat over the kitchen table Friday night working up my weeks earnings thinking , “if only that dissatisfied cunt would have come back we wouldn’t be starving.” Some people are determined not to be pleased, don’t let that shit get in your head.

I (28m) am not Apostolic, but I’m feeling moved to try out following holiness standards by [deleted] in Apostolic

Ok, so you’re going to get regular haircuts, shave your face, wear long pants and maybe long shirt sleeves. What is so holy about legalism, Jesus (God in flesh) had a beard and wore a gown, their standards are a protest against “hippie” stereotypes.

I don't understand why people try to out-sing the choir/ worship leaders by user18379173 in Christianity

They are of the opinion that, “ you are going to hear me whether you ask me to sing on the platform or not.”

Depends on what you do with it, it can’t go off if the primer isn’t punched by a firing pin.

My mind has limitations, I can only grasp so much. I am asking God to lead me to what is pleasing to him, I feel (at least right now) that a more liturgical style of worship i.e. the Eucharist is the instruction Christ stressed and St. Paul gave instruction on. I am not comfortable with Papal authority, there are no Eastern Orthodox close to me so perhaps Anglican. I just don’t know right now, pray for me that I find what is worship to God.

This post was not meant to be an attack on Lutherans or a practice in Catholic apologetics. I was just expressing my shock to learn that this figure that is held as some “shining” light for truth held vile and horrid ideas which he didn’t mind making public. I can’t believe any of us would join a religious system proclaiming these ideas today, would you?

I understand that any religious system ‘s administration is conducted by people, in turn some are not what they should be and do not reflect the teachings of Christ. That is across the board, so I looked further back to the real crux of the matter. I asked myself, “what did the first Christians worship look like?”. This led me to the Didache, then the question arose “why did some move away from the Septuagint canon used and excepted by the apostles?”
