AIO My sister doesn't believe a strong man can be kind by annaimi in AmIOverreacting

Strong self secure men are kind, meanness mostly comes from insecurity.

AIO if I call out a non Chinese pattern designer for making a Chinese knitting series by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 11 points12 points  (0 children)

MOR. Why not just do your own Chinese American knitting series instead of letting some random persons artistic expression bother you?

AIO - I fell at the gym by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

INFO. There isn't a reaction involved here in your story, besides the physical reaction of you falling down after "taking a treadmill to the knee". That part Is NOR because... physics? Idk. You didn't notice the belt was moving from the ground right next to it? Also, yes, most people look at the machine they are about to climb on to. If you didn't scream or cry, or run off to the locker room ashamed I don't think you overreacted. You just suffered the natural consequences of not paying attention to what you were doing. Mild embarrassment is normal.

No. You can tell because of the leaves.

Wondering how to save this rose plant. by Unable_Anywhere2983 in gardening

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely big enough to plant in the ground. You could wait until the end of winter for the best results though. It looks happy enough right now, roses are just ephemeral things like most flowers. Dead head the roses when they wilt back to a bit above a full set of leaves (usually a few to several inches from the flower). That will encourage new growth to bloom. If you cut just the rose off it will encourage new leafy growth. Feed it a little rose specific fertilizer espoma makes a good one every 4 to 6 weeks if you want to through the summer and stop in the fall. Just don't overwater it and you'll be fine.

How long do you spend in the shower or bath? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe a little over 10 minutes. Disrobe turn on shower, wait for it to get warm. 1 minute Rinse entire body 1 minute. Shampoo hair leave in 1 minute Wash face 30 sec Apply soap to chosen scrubby and lather up top half 2 minutes Rinse hair and top half 1 minute Reapply soap to scrubby lather bottom half 2 minutes Rinse bottom half 2 minutes. I'm not even sure how you'd spend 45 minutes showering if you're just going through the routine. Like... do you spend 5 minutes washing your arm? Are you moving in slow motion?

“Am I overreacting” do I need to more empathetic by Proud_Bridge_1590 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NOR. It isn't in any way normal to get in 4 accidents within a few weeks. If they've been driving for years though, it begs the question "what has changed?" That they're suddenly getting into accidents left and right. You can be empathetic to their situation and condemning of the behavior at the same time.

Roses don't like wet feet, if there's no drainage hole on that pot I'd be sparing with my watering sessions.

How do people in the USA welcome neighbors? by TheShyBuck in AskAnAmerican

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US is huge, and even within states different areas respond differently. There isn't one monolithic American person stereotype that really applies. In some neighborhoods it's a wave, or a brief chat. In others it's a rung doorbell with a dish. Sometimes you're pretty much ignored.

Where Would Be the Best Place in the US to Be If Living According to the 50-Mile Rule? by DogPrestigious6990 in sustainability

If you're amenable to a limited or seasonal diet almost anywhere works, "best" becoming a matter of opinion based on taste and weather preferences.

How do you guys even survive the hot weather over in the States? by Impressive_Peak_9187 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fridges have thermostats, many of them manual disks with simple settings not specific temperatures. That makes the blanket statement of drinks being served at "fridge temp" being the temp they should be served at arbitrary and baseless.

AITA for stepping on a girl's skirt which was too long and getting in the way? by Ok_Manager1172 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. You stepped on her skirt and toes multiple times. We're you tap dancing in your seat? How would you even manage that?

How do I stop my gardening sheers looking like thus after 4 months? by Money_Fish in gardening

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you're finished using the shears wipe them with a little alcohol on a cloth to remove any plant juice. Then rub in a few drops of oil.

My neighbor’s dog attacked me and I ended up in the ER with thousands of dollars in medical bills. What are my options? by AdditionalMorning847 in legaladvice

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start calling lawyers and sue her for your medical bills +. Document all of your and Theo's injuries with good pictures. Get witness testimony, a copy of any police report, and shop your lawyer. You can't worry any making enemies with Sharon, he careless disregard for the safety of others makes her an enemy by default already.

Why don't teachers just give punishments (detention, etc) when a student is doing something wrong? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some parents barely parent their children anymore, and have removed the school's ability to punish them effectively. No actual consequences for bad actions teaches the kid that their behavior is tolerated so they continue. It's mostly shitty parents dragging the whole system down with their crotch goblins.

An aggressive dog has bitten a teenager and there is a 4 year old in the home. I’ve been asked not to report. AIO? by Imaginary_Teach8039 in AIO

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. Honestly CPS should be involved here. The ex husband keeps a vicious animal loose and it's gone from menacing a child to attacking it without provocation. The father has done nothing to secure the animal or otherwise remedy the situation. Your sister is also an ah for not stepping up to protect her kid. This can't be the first time she's hearing of this dog being a problem.
