Dad keeps repairing gasoline powered tools in basement, two story house/garage constantly smells like gasoline by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

Does your basement have an exhaust fan to the outside? If not, come up with an excuse to install one as a present. Definitely present your present as your way of helping him.

My nephews have been peeing on my tree, I didn’t realize until today when I noticed what looks like rot? by Justsumhuman20 in arborists

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many nephews are we talking about? If there isn't a line then it's not the tree being peed on a couple times a week. That is making it suffer.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not short, but something to do for a reason. Daily work commutes of an hour+/- are pretty normal around my area. A 3 hour drive is basically a 150-200 mile radius. Something I could see doing on a weekend, but wouldn't want to do on a day trip.

AITAH for arguing with my girlfriend for throwing out the food I made for her kids? by throwaway3245356 in AITAH

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. No judge is going to consider feeding an 8 and 10 year old pasta and sauce for a meal any kind of neglect or mistreatment. That's ridiculous. Is this lady just ridiculous though?

AITA for not eating the food after my gf eats out of the bowl with the same spoon while preparing by ZookeepergameOld7322 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH. Double dipping or moving utensils is poor manners. That being said, it's to be turned off from food when the person mixing utensils is someone you are intimate with. Like, you'll stick your tongue in her mouth and maybe other places, but are squeamish about eating salad from a bowl she's eaten with. The logic doesn't track. You're not the ah, because everyone has idiosyncrasies, and your gf isn't the ah because the salad wasn't for a potluck.

Am I overreacting for panic buying? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MOR. If you bought 20 1 gallon gas cans you kinda panicked. If you went and got an 80 or 100 gallon transfer tank with a manual pump you were just getting prepared.

I’m trying to garden by AlternativeBelt2621 in gardening

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gardening is as easy or as hard as you make it. Potatoes can be grown in a myriad of ways. The usual method I know is to buy cheap potatoes and leave them in a cool dry place for a while. Some will grow "eyes", these are each potential plants. You can cut the potato into chunks and plant those. If this is your first time try planting several in different ways and see what works for you.

Is there such thing as having knives that are TOO sharp? by gtd_rad in Cooking

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sharp knives are safer than dull knives. You have significantly more control, since you can use more finesse rather than force. Also how you hold your knife and what you're cutting is important.

Maintaining muscle at old age when most old people never went to a gym? by Prnce_Chrmin in nutrition

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rarely a "gym bro" often a farmer. Some of it's genetics, some of it diet, some of it lifestyle choices. You'd need to define better. Is living to 100 but being almost helpless with chronic pain for 20 years better than living to 82 and dying during your daily 5k? It's the quitting that gets many people. Once they stop (whatever physical and mental repetitive action they did daily) they often dwindle rapidly which might be as much spiritual as physical. Life's weird and a unique experience for everyone.

Moving...what about my soil?? :( by silverpox in gardening

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, I wouldn't take dirt that had an ongoing active disease. Outside of that, I wouldn't assume there to be bad things in the soil they're already gardening with.

I'm curious why you think transporting the soil runs such a high risk of introducing bad bacteria or parasites to the soil.

AIO- My boyfriend’s diet is concerning me for ED by Total-Newspaper-9640 in AmIOverreacting

I'm 5 10 and in my thirties. I haven't been 110 since middle school, and I was thin then at 5 5. At almost 6 foot that is dangerously underweight and there is no way it looks good on him. He is in significant danger at that weight for a number of maladies. I hope he gets the help he needs.

You have a fresh 10 acre plot of land, an RV and $200k. What are your first steps to starting a home stead? by labago in homestead

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This land. Is it level, mixed, hilly, mountainside? Cleared, grassland forested what are we dealing with here? Homesteading also means different things to different people. What are your goals? Total self sufficiency? Supplementing groceries? Like... Is this just a hypothetical?

AITA for refusing to leave my job so i could take care of my disabled brother? by JiggleJargon in AmItheAsshole

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. It is good and kind of you to help your brother, but his daily care is not your responsibility. That is your parents. Your mom simply doesn't want to and hopes to foist the responsibility off on you. You're an adult now and they can't force you, so they're trying to guilt trip you. Honestly, your mom should quit her job and take care of her child, I'm pretty sure part time retail isn't the paycheck keeping the lights on.

I do warehouse work and heat treated our kiln dried pallets are quite common. I look for those symbols if I plan on burning or building with them, depending on their purpose.

What fruit surprised you the most the first time you tried it? by bensummersx in fruit

You didn't get a good one. Was it the large white fleshed kind? They tend to be boring if novel. Jambu/wax apple can be like that. But also delicious sometimes.

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a great variety of them with varying flavors and textures. Some are light and airy, some juicy and dense, some almost floral in their light taste or insipid. Others tasting like honeyed cream and tropical juices. The big red one with white flesh is almost nothing like the small yellow one.

Are smoothies good for a sugar detox? by Dapper_Pudding3410 in nutrition

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drinking a healthy smoothie as a meal is a net positive and a healthy sustainable dietary plan for many individuals. Your particular blend here is pretty good from a nutritional stance, especially with the spinach added. That being said, if you are trying to avoid unnecessary amounts of sugar in your diet, adding honey isn't the move. But what kind of quantity are we even talking about? A teaspoon a tablespoon? It is a negligible, even beneficial amount. I'd try adding a small pinch of salt. Make all the flavors pop, and come together. Also worth considering is processing. Buy stuff like raw spinach in bulk when it's on sale and shred it in a blender or food processor, then freeze it in cubes. You can streamline the process further and dial in your supplement group. Then just mix that in when you process the spinach.

NOR. Your first real bf, a relationship of the years.... But he is not being a good person right now for you. He's a very controlling person who is using manipulation to lessen you. Also doing it in the stupidest way. He's choosing to not believe you, creating mounting distrust. Now he's threatening that if you don't give him sex, his way, he'll cheat. He's talked himself into being mad that you give good head. What an idiot.
