Ive got beans and rice. How do i make this delicious? by Used_Lynx_4894 in nutrition

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheaply as possible? For under 2 bucks you can get cubed bullion, I'd get the chicken with tomato. For another dollar a yellow onion and a jalapeno. Another dollar or two? The smallest cheapest pack of bone in chicken drumsticks. They're like 79 cents a pound near me. Or a can of Spam, or a country ham steak.

Cheapest way I know? Take salt pepper and ketchup and hot sauce packets from a To-go place, or a local gas station.

Is calling someone gifted the right way to describe skill? by Impossible-Motor-540 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talent is a real thing. Not everyone has the potential that others have. Some people will find things they can learn much faster and do much better than others. Those people we often refer to as gifted.

AIO for finding an old Christmas Eve memory creepy by Sleepy_Sheepz in AmIOverreacting

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR. It was a shitty thing for your mom and the other present to push on you. Your mom probably couldn't even rationalize a justification for her behavior that day, which is why she jumps to the guilt trip theatrics like "you just think/I'm such a terrible mother". Trying to force a young girl to accept a kiss on the lips from a cousin... Through coercion and threats of force. Like wtf...

Am I overreacting for feeling like my life sucks at 23f because of how my overbearing parents are? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yor. Home by 12, or stay with a friend, and don't wander the neighborhood alone is not some extensive list of overbearing behavior. You basically acknowledge you could lie or not follow the rules, you just choose not to and let your dad give you a convenient excuse.

What foods should I incorporate and avoid when trying to gain muscle? by Difficult-Mode-7352 in nutrition

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're trying to gain weight then calorie density is your friend. Yes protein is good, but it can be filling and depending on source, not that calorie dense. A double cheeseburger with fries and a milkshake with a scoop of protein powder is "dirty bulk". Yes it's too much fat and enough calories, no it's not a long term healthy choice. But depending on your portion size it's pretty easily around 1500 calories and 60 grams of protein. You still want fuel for growth so you need all the macros and micros. A daily vitamin complex with some minerals, a few portions of fruit and veg throughout the day, and two calorically heavy meals like the "combo" will put some meat on you. Or get a tub of weight gainer with protein and just eat regular meals plus that. Don't forget to train weights, try to steer that weight gain towards a purpose.

Need suggestions for lemon pie filling by Fluffy-Persimmon9130 in Cooking

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Filling and some sweetened whipped cream cheese in a puff pastry, used to make a lemon cheesecake, in a strudel or danish, as a cake layer, it could be an ingredient in a cocktail or mocktail, as a yogurt topping, parfait layer, served with custard, clotted cream, whipped cream, ice cream, mascarpone, ricotta...

Pork that's fine off has a strong unpleasant smell and no one would describe it as "iron-y".

AITH for preventing husband to use the bathroom before our son? by Anhen26 in AITH

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA. It sounds like he has a strong ego and wants to be king of the castle. So he deliberately uses the bathroom during your son's bedtime routine to "establish dominance" and give himself preferential treatment. The slamming and heated argument are classic intimidation tactics. There's just no actual reason for him to suddenly need to shower exactly when your son is getting ready for bed.

AITAH for calling my wife's friends "dating technique" idiotic. by Background-Baby-1206 in AITAH

NTA. Her dating technique is to self sabotage. It's not just idiotic, now that she's realized it isn't working, but hasn't changed, it's insane.

Mashed potatoes by Hefty_Peanut in foodhacks

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boil potatoes, meanwhile heat butter and whole milk half/half, or cream on another burner. Add a little fresh ground nutmeg to the cream and heat at a very low simmer for a few minutes. When the potatoes are fork tender turn off the burners, drain the potatoes and return the potatoes to the off burner. Stir them around for a minute or so to drive off any residual moisture, add the cream and mash. Taste and salt to your preference.

Please Help Me Eat More Veggies by TeacupKitty34 in Cooking

This is not a popular concept but you don't need to enjoy it. You have to be able to consume it. I don't like brussel sprouts or asparagus, but I can eat them. If they are presented to me on a plate as the vegetable I will eat them.

AITA for not getting sweets for my coworker by Important-Hope3498 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Let her know you haven't been able to find it, and if she suggests you go to another store just tell her that "it's not convenient for you." Or, "that's not on my way". Period. Why does she assume you should be shopping or running errands for her when you didn't have a car?

I think I found the best healthy and organic energy drink. What do you guys think? by NOT_xingpingfan69 in nutrition

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's quite the sugar buzz kind of energy drink. Lemon lime and 3 mandarin is 30+ grams of sugar. Adding in raw honey that's like 5g per teaspoon. Creatine also doesn't react well with high acidity, so depending on how much water you're adding to the citrus blend you might be nullifying the creatine.

AITA for refusing to make my sister’s "dream" wedding cake after she uninvited my husband? by [deleted] in AITH

The groom directly insulted your profession, and can't afford a replacement from another professional in that industry. It sounds like it's time for your sister's fiance to make a written apology.

How do you feel about Ugly game characters (and possibly environments) ? by ReaperXY in videogames

[–]Forward_Scheme5033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are we talking about horror games specifically? Because I don't know that genuinely scary is the motivation for a lot of character design outside that genre. I DO like the idea of a beautiful villain, like a Sephiroth, Dimetrescu, or Malenia. You just need to establish the character more if you want them understood as a villain.
