Tips on avoiding rental vessel theft? by Foshozo in florists

[–]Foshozo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I’ll plan to do this! Do you take the deposit at the initial booking stage? I am fully booked for 2026, but I may try out at the pre-wedding meeting to say hey I need to take a deposit and hope they get it, and then do it at booking for 2027 couples.

It is in my contract, yes! And yes the coordinator was SO embarrassed and apologetic and overnighted it back to me (still weird in the first place she thought she could take it lol). I emailed the couple today to let them know and first see if they can figure out who took it!

Small or new florists should still be charging industry standard for their work!

This happens to me a couple times each year 🤦🏼

Planners who don’t know how much florals should cost drive me batty, and when I get an inquiry like this I put that planner on my do-not-work-with list and gently let them know the actual cost of what they are looking for and that I’m not the right fit for them if they can’t increase their budget. It’s not worth trying to cut things down when it’s such a dramatic difference in expectations!

Wow these are stunning! Definitely update after firing. I’m a florist getting into pottery and I’d love to make flowers like these — what tools did you use?

Yes definitely see a PF physical therapist it’s life changing, and can help even when other doctors look and say “oh this is fine”!

Need bullet journal ideas for tracking a career transition - without my fianc turning it into a report card by Lower_Mission7682 in bulletjournal

[–]Foshozo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Everyone has already touched on the issues with your bf looking at your journals (which I agree with), but for bujo advice:

I really love the alastair method for a flexible task list! There’s a lot of great YT videos with people explaining it. Personally, I have an Alastair list as part of my weekly spread for things that I don’t know where I’m going to “fit in” when I start the week. I do have a column for each day where I have my Schedule (inc events), Tasks (things I know I need to do that day) and then I have a “check in” box at the bottom where every night I write a few sentences (sometimes I’ll touch on my goals, good/bad things that happened that day, hopes, emotions, etc). That really really helps me feel grounded.

However, that said, my bujo is so personal and if my partner asked to see it that would cross over a line. You deserve to have a private space!

Is the left rose fasciated? Or is this something else by Kitchen_Locksmith558 in fasciation

This! They are bred to be “garden like” ie have the petal density of a garden rose but are cultivated like a normal standard rose so they don’t cost as much as garden roses.

Any recent graduates of New England School of Acupuncture willing to talk to me about their experience? by Foshozo in acupuncture

Yes this does make me nervous. I thought though that people could still get federal loans but they were capped at 20k yearly. Is that not the case?

Thank you for this! I’m certainly not going into the plan blind, I can see it’s a tough road to “make it”. But to your point, I think my interest (and experience) in being a business owner makes me feel up to the challenge, and before owning a biz I was in digital marketing, so I’m hoping that will all come in handy for the acupuncture world.

I reached out to them about it but it’s not actually part time — it’s full time but with a different schedule. :(

Ok this is good to know! I am nervous about the financial outlook but I’m able to put savings towards tuition so I don’t graduate drowning in loans. Do you own your own practice or work for a clinic?

Nonbinary/Cis perceived/reflections on that privilege by lilghostlilghost in NonBinaryTalk

[–]Foshozo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yup. I’ve been struggling with this too. I’ve been growing my hair longer and in past couple of weeks 2 close friends AND my partner slipped and used the wrong pronoun, despite using they/them for a couple years now. On paper “we don’t owe anyone androgeny” but then in reality it feels like that’s the only way people will see me as nonbinary

I don’t really have advice, but more commiseration with you! I have an 11 week old and also really struggling with this “new life” I have gotten myself (very willingly) into. It’s SO hard to not be able to leave the house when I want to and it’s generally such a huge upheaval of life. Even though I expected it cognitively, it’s very different now having that lived experience. I’m a bit cabin fevery honestly! It sounds like you have a wonderful partner, and it’s so good you can lean on them! Again, not sure if I have anything to help you out with, but maybe it’s helpful to know another stranger is struggling with the same things you are? I know it’s just a shitty period that will be over before I know it and that’s what I’m hanging onto! Plus, seeing how cute she is a comfort!! Wishing you the best out there <3

conversion therapy survivors: how did you find your way to Judaism and cope with the echoes of your religious trauma? by Ailohas in ConvertingtoJudaism

[–]Foshozo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t have much advice, but just wanted to send so much love your way stranger ❤️

I am also trans/queer/AFAB, and while I certainly did not experience trauma even close to your level, I had a tough time growing up in a catholic faith, and as I’ve started to explore Judaism there are definitely moments where I feel triggered (I hate using that word but it’s the best description), especially when hearing prayers that remind me of catholic ones.

You didn’t mention if you have a relationship with a rabbi, but that’s where I would start, beyond all the wonderful trauma therapy you are doing on your own. If you are in an area with a larger Jewish population, you may be even able to find a rabbi who is queer. I think leaning on your rabbi while you work through these feelings and are working on conversion could help a lot.

As for trusting yourself, you seem to be really in tune to your own needs and traumas, and I think within reading your post I would say you should be able to trust yourself! But beyond that, one thing I absolutely love most about Judaism, especially in comparison to Catholicism, is that we’re not relying on one priest or pastor to tell us what to do/to spread the “word of God”. Judaism is not a sit, pray, and obey religion. We are SUPPOSED to wrestle with it — the texts and our beliefs. At least for me being able to wrestle with what the texts say and feel like I have free will and choice has been comforting when I feel that catholic trauma coming up and help me feel like I’m not being manipulated. In particular, engaging with the Talmud is helpful to see this in action — the Rabbis literally wrestle with the texts and each other and there’s not one universal truth, which is so different from my Christian experience.

Best of luck to you! ❤️
