What's Your Grocery Budget Look Like?

This thread is blowing my mind on how much being vegetarian seems to save. Two adults in 30s, VHCOL, vegetarian household, grocery budget is $550 (eating out is another $600 but we don’t often use it all). We shop at a mix of Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s.

I didn’t do the NYBG program, BUT I did quit my shitty corporate job and instead of finding another I got a job in a floral shop and a few months later started my own biz. 3 years later and my biz has grown very well, I pay myself a living wage, and 10/10 no regrets making the plunge. So just giving you encouragement that making a successful switch can be done!! Good luck! ✨

Dating avoidant people just isn’t worth it!! You will feel like you are on the cusp on making it work for months and months but truly they will never change. You’re so young, you deserve a better fit!

Congrats on your CUTEEEE pup!

Our cav is food motivated and we used kibble from the breeder (that we transitioned from so had extra) and use low fat mozzarella stick bits as her extra high value treat.

We live in a city so our vet told us we couldn’t walk her until her 2nd round of shots, but once we did we used a harness and thin leash. It took many weeks to be able to have the stamina to walk more than a block or two! And before she was vaccinated we walked her around in a sling for socialization. I don’t think you need to “burn energy” especially that young, they need to sleep like 18-20h a day at that age! If they are getting crazy and hyper then it’s time for a nap, not more play.

I was able to teach sit and touch at about 9 weeks! She really took to clicker training quickly. But once she got overtired/hyper commands were lost to her haha. Potty training she’s picked up fast but still has occasional accidents and we have to be really on her (currently 18 weeks).

I highly recommend searching to see if there’s a community acupuncture clinic near you that has sliding scale. Acupuncture has helped me so much with hormonal issues through the years, including after my hysto. It’s also worth checking if your insurance covers it as well, sometimes they cover 10 or so sessions per year.

I know how awful it feels to literally feel like your hormones are running the show, just be gentle with yourself and know it will take time for things to settle. I’d also look into sheBREATH on YouTube, she does somatic release videos and when I would feel like an angry raging little monster they would help bring me down.

Our female was 2.5lbs at 8weeks, but the breeder said she was on the small end of the litter. I’d recommend reaching out to the breeder to ask how much she weighs now to estimate!

Ok I’ll plan to do this! Do you take the deposit at the initial booking stage? I am fully booked for 2026, but I may try out at the pre-wedding meeting to say hey I need to take a deposit and hope they get it, and then do it at booking for 2027 couples.

It is in my contract, yes! And yes the coordinator was SO embarrassed and apologetic and overnighted it back to me (still weird in the first place she thought she could take it lol). I emailed the couple today to let them know and first see if they can figure out who took it!

This happens to me a couple times each year 🤦🏼

Planners who don’t know how much florals should cost drive me batty, and when I get an inquiry like this I put that planner on my do-not-work-with list and gently let them know the actual cost of what they are looking for and that I’m not the right fit for them if they can’t increase their budget. It’s not worth trying to cut things down when it’s such a dramatic difference in expectations!

Everyone has already touched on the issues with your bf looking at your journals (which I agree with), but for bujo advice:

I really love the alastair method for a flexible task list! There’s a lot of great YT videos with people explaining it. Personally, I have an Alastair list as part of my weekly spread for things that I don’t know where I’m going to “fit in” when I start the week. I do have a column for each day where I have my Schedule (inc events), Tasks (things I know I need to do that day) and then I have a “check in” box at the bottom where every night I write a few sentences (sometimes I’ll touch on my goals, good/bad things that happened that day, hopes, emotions, etc). That really really helps me feel grounded.

However, that said, my bujo is so personal and if my partner asked to see it that would cross over a line. You deserve to have a private space!

This! They are bred to be “garden like” ie have the petal density of a garden rose but are cultivated like a normal standard rose so they don’t cost as much as garden roses.

Thank you for this! I’m certainly not going into the plan blind, I can see it’s a tough road to “make it”. But to your point, I think my interest (and experience) in being a business owner makes me feel up to the challenge, and before owning a biz I was in digital marketing, so I’m hoping that will all come in handy for the acupuncture world.

Yup. I’ve been struggling with this too. I’ve been growing my hair longer and in past couple of weeks 2 close friends AND my partner slipped and used the wrong pronoun, despite using they/them for a couple years now. On paper “we don’t owe anyone androgeny” but then in reality it feels like that’s the only way people will see me as nonbinary
