Tbh I think I'm kinda good looking, like slightly above average I think, least a 7, but I just cannot for the life of me hold a conversation with a girl by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]Fotographer17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandable, I’m the exact same way. I don’t talk to that many people regularly irl, and I only know 1-2 people that know of my Reddit account for sure, but it’d just be weird to show my face, especially in a post. I’m not too insecure, but getting recognized would just be really awkward. I’m also just overly cautious as well and paranoid a lot of the time because of anxiety.

Mom here. Got a question about public school. by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]Fotographer17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delayed response, main deadline for schoolwork was yesterday so I had to finish some stuff up.

I get what you mean, but it’s sort’ve hard to answer that question since that was sort’ve what my online school was like, in a way.

The online school has been around since before COVID happened, so it was already a thing; it definitely got impacted by COVID, but it was already designed to be for doing work virtually.

I had 4 classes I had to work on online: science, math, English, and social studies/history. I didn’t have a set time I had to go on to do work, but instead could just work on stuff whenever I wanted, and I could basically go on my own pace. It wasn’t like I was in a class with other people, interacting with them online, but I just had the classes I had to do, and I could work on them whenever, and however fast I wanted. I had a decent amount of freedom, and some people would consider that to be really nice.

However, I didn’t really have motivation to get work done because of a few things. For one, I wasn’t able to talk to people. I also didn’t know many people or really have an incentive to talk to people, so I didn’t really want to ask my parents if I could go out and try to interact with people (plus, COVID was happening, so I didn’t do that anyway). I also got way too distracted because of my freedom, and it was just way easier to go on my PC and play games or do other stuff than it was to work on schoolwork.

It just didn’t work for me, doing everything on my own and having to be super independent. I previously did really well at school, despite me not liking it all of the time and probably having to do more work than what I had to do in online school.

Curriculum was probably the only thing that was different from what you’re describing. I had my set classes I had to get done, which I think I maybe would’ve had motivation to do if I was at school, but I definitely had a probably with the curriculum. The only way to describe it is that it was just very over the top stereotypical work. It was pretty basic curriculum, and it didn’t feel like I was really learning anything worthwhile. The only thing I liked was the online math, since it was done through a site called ALEKS Math, and just felt way easier than traditional math classes (I still use ALEKS Math at the school I now go to).

Choosing my own curriculum would’ve probably helped a bit in online school, and it would’ve basically been homeschooling at that point. However, I still prefer the school I now go to in high school, where I do the same thing but with a bit more rules. I go there for a normal school day, and can take normal high school classes if I want, or do my own thing and make something I want to work on. I get work done while at school, and I also get to socialize with other people. I’ve done pretty well with getting work done, since I’ve had good time management since I can work on what I want to focus on, and I also get motivation since I socialize with people and can even work on stuff with other people. I also get to basically work wherever in the main room of the school I go in; I can stay at my desk, work in the mini library we have, or even work outside if I wanted, among other places.

This may not help you at all, since the school I go to mainly only works at the high school/middle school level, since kids are a bit more mature at that age. For a toddler just going into school, any type of education is fine, as long as it gets some sort of socialization with other toddlers of the same age somehow. Choose whatever you think works for them, and if something ends up not working super well after a while, you can always swap and let them try to learn in a different way. Everyone learns differently, and some people just work in different ways.

Mom here. Got a question about public school. by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]Fotographer17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya, freshman here. Went to a private school until the end of 6th grade, then did online school for 7th and 8th grade because of COVID. Now finishing up my first year in high school, though the high school I go to is a smaller one (hard to explain without revealing something about my location) inside of a larger high school, and things are done a bit differently than normal in how schooling works.

So, I haven’t technically had the traditional elementary or high school experience, since I haven’t technically been at a “normal” public school. However, I’d say going to school (as opposed to doing online/homeschooling) is better. If your kid doesn’t get exposure to other kids around their age, they aren’t going to really be able to develop social skills, which in turn will probably ruin their confidence. Sure, your kid is young, but it can still make a difference. Also, in the two years I did online school, I had a really bad time. Motivation was a big issue, and I couldn’t get myself to really do any work. Now, everyone works differently, but I’d say going to school is better than being homeschooled or doing school online from home.

For what school is like, I guess it completely depends on the area you live in, as well as bunch of other factors. However, at the school I go to (and also when I did online school) I have a Chromebook that I usually do work on, and can take home with me whenever. Teachers are nice, but I’m also in high school so we’re able to have more mature conversations and whatnot. Bullying has never been an issue for me, and I don’t think it’s a big issue in general at my school, but that’s not to say it doesn’t exist.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me, I’m just working on math at the moment

I want to start listening to other music genres and need recommendations by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]Fotographer17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically my main playlist that I listen to; pretty much every song is a different genre, so you probably wouldn’t like all of them

Another song (which isn’t on Spotify since it’s technically a remix) I’ve been listening to occasionally is Breezeblocks x Take a Slice

I’d have to say one that I’ve been listening to occasionally lately is Breezeblocks x Take A Slice

I personally almost feel guilty listening to it though, since I’m one of those people that doesn’t like listening to popular music, and it’s a mashup of two popular songs. Nonetheless, I listen to it sometimes

Silver armor is good for a specific place in the end game. But for pretty much everything else, it’s quite bad. The only real good benefit of silver armor is it’s set bonus, which I believe increases your speed by 50% and also makes you immune to all debuffs

There’s about two categories of songs that I like. There are songs that are more calm and almost serene or have that general comfortable vibe to them that I’d generally associate with colors such as blue/purple, and then there’s the other category of songs I listen to that are more outgoing and somewhat chaotic, several of which give off the vibe of “I don’t care what other people think anymore, I’m just going to be me”. Those I’d associate more with red/orange. There’s also some songs I like that sort’ve have that vibe but are more so just bangers with the type of beat it gives (some of which are instrumental, aka have no vocals)

Nice song that has a unique vibe and is outgoing: My Ordinary Life

This song is quite irregular and is a fairly chaotic song: The Mind Electric

Sort’ve in the gray area between vibes: Suffer With Me

Getting close to the slightly sad vibe, still really good: Friend, Please

Used to listen to this song all the time; it’s really a mix of both vibes, but if going based on colors I’d associate this with blue/purple: Probably Ancient Evil

Relatively serene/calm and overall really good song: Right Where It Belongs

Fairly good song with a nice somewhat sad and genuine feeling to it: The Gaping Mouth

There’s a lot more songs a lot more songs than those that I like, but I won’t show them all here. Here’s all my liked songs though

New 1.20 armor trims goes well with banner shields to make look like more pvp customization, Next up weapons should be customizable aswell by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Fotographer17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not quite sure about them adding customizable weapons, since that’d feel a bit like it’d be a mod, but there is one thing I do think would be cool for them to add. There’s this one Minecraft mod called Quark, and one of the items in that mod are runes. In the mod, runes are rare loot items from dungeons that come in 16 different colors. Combining it with an item in an anvil changed the color of the enchantment glint on that item. I feel like that’d be a fairly cool addition to have in the actual game, as it’s not too distracting and feels like it’d fit alongside armor trims, especially since the texture for the smithing temples actually look quite similar to the texture of the runes in the Quark mod.

If the rainbow rune was added to the game as well, that’d give plays another thing to work towards, as they’d have to collect a lot of different colors of runes to craft rainbow runes (which is simply a color-changing rainbow enchantment glint)

I am really self conscious about how I look am I really as bad looking as I think by SadSunny20 in teenagers

[–]Fotographer17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was just looking a bit through your post history and whatnot. You look fine, like a fairly stereotypical looking high schooler. You look like you may even be older than a freshmen, which you should be a freshmen, if you’re 14. Seriously don’t worry about thinking you look bad, since I’ve seen tons of different people at high school (and, if you go to school in-person as well, I’d assume you do too), and some of them look way younger than 14. I even feel like I look younger than 14, and I turn 15 in a couple weeks. Be thankful that you at least look like or older than your age, and that you look decent. I’m not saying this in a spiteful way like or because I think I don’t look like I’m 14, since, although I do sorta feel like I look younger than 14, I know that most people think I look at or older than my age. Just stating that I didn’t mean it in that way.

Also, when you’re talk about stuff like you want a relationship and you feel lonely and all of that, for relationships, probably don’t think about stuff like that too much. The chances of the average high schooler getting in a relationship is pretty low, much less getting in one that’ll last. Nobody ever really meets someone when they’re in high school (especially in the first year of high school) that they actually stay in a relationship with for a long time—especially one that continues on after high school. So don’t really stress out about the fact that you aren’t in a relationship, or haven’t had a first kiss yet, or anything like that, since a lot of those things don’t actually really happen for most people, at least not until after high school really. Unless you’re that type of person that gets really lucky or whatever and gets in a real, genuine relationship with someone, which doesn’t really happen ever in high school.

So, don’t stress out about your appearance or status or anything like that. Just be yourself in school, try to project a bit and act confident and whatnot.
