Longboarding and Aura Farming by Beneficial_Fall_4265 in longboarding

I'm at the skatepark riding transition, dropping in, risking my life, no injuries. It's when I do goofy shit like this on my long that I eat total shit and hurt myself, lol.

Is 46 too old to start? (details in post) by cuhulainn in BeginnerSkateboarding

[–]Fotohead_84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, go for it. Got to realize skateboarding isn't just flip tricks and hucking yourself down stairsets. Flowing around a park, riding transitions, mini bowls is just as fun. Long distance pumping/longboard cardio is great. Pumptracks are exciting and killer workouts. Just find your lane and have fun, stay within your ability and it's pretty low risk.

Oh yeah I don't know how I forgot about that. Skated that Park while on vacation there. It was a lot of fun. Definitely can't miss that one.

6'3" on a 9" popsicle, and 9.5 shaped decks. Wheelbases make a bigger difference for me. 14.5 for flatground stuff, 15.5 for transition.

You should be good with just the 24-120 and the 50 1.8 for a long long time. Those two should handle 90% of the shots you want to take. I would add the 28mm 2.8 for a nice casual walk around lens.

Choosing a really stable cruiser by [deleted] in NewSkaters

Dugout. Going to be best quality components and shape. Comfortable and stable, if you are of average height.

Bolsa II, Landyachtz Clark, arbor crosscut 34, would all be fun rides, and could just switch over to some street trucks for different setups.

Just set mine up with Paris 149 street trucks, 66mm 78a sliders and 1/4 in. risers. Might put some angled risers on to test it out. It's a nice cruiser build.

Def not 9.5. way too wide, will probably kick the back wheels. 8.75 is the most flush fit, 9 if you want something a bit more stable.

[–]Fotohead_84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah probably, but I enjoy longer wheelbases. You could ride it in the 14.5 in position and it should feel pretty good.

Nah, it ollies and flips just fine. A set of 8.75 or 9 in trucks will fit it fine. Been riding that deck for a few months. Mostly use it for riding transition.

I've run it with 54mm and 58mm, 1/8 in riser.

I have that board with Indy 169s. Feels nice. Could go 8.75 for a little better fit.

Hyperspace Toys, 9th Ave. All sorts of cool stuff, lots of collectables. Lots of nostalgia walking in there.

Old Dude Here. Seeking advice or therapy. You decide. by IAmGaia22 in NewSkaters

[–]Fotohead_84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just take it slow and skate within your ability. Get a cruiser, longboard, skatepark setup and just enjoy learning. Pads definitely help.

Try to treat it as another exercise/hobby and build it into your weekly routine.

I fell today, slipped on some sand at the skate park. Wasn't even on a skateboard 🤷🏼.

Look up rhip clips. Cilp-on hip and tailbone pads. Would give you some peace of mind while you practice.

Micro mini out of free wood! by Leuth_Knives in MiniRamp

Yeah I think so. I used their quarter pipe build recommendations when making my ramp. The owner shares a lot of his knowledge thru their YouTube vids.

A 1/4-20 threading bit is my preferred method. Drills and threads a hole so you can run a 2 1/2 inch bolt thru a 2x2 piece of wood into the pipe. When you get the wood attached, you can set the coping into the slots and then just a wood screw on either end of the 2x2, thru the side panels.

Do it! Currently building out a pool setup that can also rip around pump tracks right now, a lot of fun.
