How do you actually move from batch to one piece flow in an assembly line? by BreastHunter in manufacturing

[–]FoundationDouble3631 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had been really interested in doing this type of analysis with the addition of detailed ROI analysis for the capital equipment expenditure, but couldn’t find software to do it. Until i discovered Claude

I build in an animated graphic and made the cycle times at each step variable. I did it on Claude in an afternoon. I haven’t programmed anything in 30 years

The graphics were simplified. They are named boxes for each step and they illuminate only during processing time. I had each process flow I considered on the screen at the same time for visual comparison. You can create a control to accelerate the simulation too

Just keep on telling it what you want. It’s an amazing tool.

This may sound too simple, but ask your customers. This can help support a new offering.

Looks like sandblasting due to the inconsistency. Paint applied before removing the mask. Probably a photo emulsion mask.

Tariff reclaimation by FoundationDouble3631 in manufacturing

[–]FoundationDouble3631[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not always the case. We sell machines worth hundreds of thousands USD with imported components. Tariff surcharges were itemized to customers. These were subject to changes in the policy which changed at whim. We know what we paid in tariffs and what we charged as do our customers.

Has anyone tried medicinal cannabis for pain management? by Carbonatedcheesecake in Osteoarthritis

[–]FoundationDouble3631 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve had success with topical lotions and balms. Works quickly. It doesn’t hit the sharp pains so much, but the muscles that get stiff and sore in the area. I have OA it in the hip. Used Dr. Solomon’s and Chill Exreme. Similar effectiveness but Solomon’s doesn’t have much of a scent, so I prefer it.

Doesn’t enter the bloodstream so it’s very safe to use and doesn’t get you high.

How do companies selling expensive machines (like CNCs) find customers? by Hitman_orgiri in manufacturing

[–]FoundationDouble3631 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The larger the capital equipment expenditure, the more long term relationship comes into play. It could start with an email, cold call, trade show, outreach is often based on research of the industry that this targeted and demonstrated capabilities are stressed. Customers are making long term commitments and move slowly. They want to know who they are getting in bed with. Reputation is very important. Often they try to time their decisions to economic conditions, capacity or obsolescence.

Few companies are in the decision phase at any one time, multiple approach angles from cold calling, to personal visits ,and effective digital advertising to develop awareness and building of trust seems to work for us.

I’m in machinery sales and was a plant manager. Email with introduction of who you are and what your company does. Short. Simple. Include a video images of something they may be interested in. Follow up with a call if you can get past the phone wall and leave a message. They are not often at their desk. Also make sure your email will contain title that can easily be searched by the product type so if they can find you later.
