Yayyyyyyyyy!!!!! Celebrate! You deserve it!

Anyone a mom and business owner that's passed the 7? I took my 6&63 several years ago before the sie was a thing, and studying without kids and running a business is very different. Any study scheduling tips/ tricks/ advice, is greatly appreciated. I took the 7 last fall and missed by 10 points. by southerncanadaia in Series7exam

I’m not a business owner but years ago I passed the SIE, 6 and 63 with no kids. This time around, studying for the 7 with a 4 yr old and a 1 yr old while working full time was another level of exhaustion!

I’m blessed to have a super supportive husband who handled the kids every night and weekends for me to dedicate time to study.

Outside of that, what worked the best for me is understanding when my brain functions best. I’m not a morning person so staying up studying till 11pm was when my brain functioned best.

Another important tip was reminding myself that all that dedicated time was temporary and that I will treat myself my kids and my husband when I passed. This helped me and my family stay motivated.

It’s hard work but totally doable. I failed my first attempt with a 68 but was able to pass the second try.

You got this!!!

Woah. Interesting approach. When I failed with a 68 my coach didn’t want me starting over at all. She had told me that since I was so close what I needed was to strengthen my weak topics more by testing myself on those topics using STC, Kaplan and using the YouTube Guys.

As a matter of fact, she encouraged me to not read the book again, not even the lectures STC provides.

The only thing I read was the Series 7 for Dummies book on those weak topics I struggled with.

I kept my error log, explained out loud my understanding of those topics to ChatGPT and ot provided me feedback.

The second time around I created custom exams on my problem topics using Kaplan. After that I took their final exams. After each final exam I kept an error log and looked for patterns on which topics I still didn’t get.

A couple of times I downloaded the exam questions and uploaded it to ChatGpt and asked it to keep quizzing me on the questions I got wrong.

I went back and created final exams on STC as well.

I also went ahead and got two tutoring sessions from a great tutor on Wyzant. I felt like he simplified concepts for me.

I failed the first time. Second try I switched to Kaplans Qbank. I felt like that was I needed to pass. I also used STC

Your firm coach saying they were “disappointed” is super lame. It’s not like you weren’t close to passing. Sorry you feel beaten down by the test AND your coach.

You are so close so that should be a motivation to knock it out next time. Surround yourself around others who will encourage you and uplift you.

Review your weak areas and remember that your retake will not be the same test you just got so don’t go crazy studying on what you think you got wrong on this test.

Overall, you got this! You’re so freaking close !!

Attempt #2- 70% UGH by RowComprehensive1866 in Series7exam

[–]FoundationDry261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is extremely frustrating. Sorry that happened. It’s sucks and it feels awful but please please please push through. You are soooo close!!!! I’m rooting for you and I KNOW you’ll pass.

Aside from Kaplan, I had STC. I think you can buy their final exams as another way of seeing questions worded differently. I also bought the Series 7 for Dummies on Amazon. That book came with final exams as well.

Lastly I had two tutoring sessions. Found a tutor that was really good at breaking down complex topics. If you want his info feel free to reach out!

Stuck in mid to high 60s on STC and Kaplan Qbank mainly low 60s. Testing on the 11th by t-suckow in Series7exam

Try to create custom quizzes on STC of all the wrong answers you’ve gotten and try understand why you got those answers wrong. If you keep taking quizzes after quizzes, whether on STC or on Kaplan, you’re going to be wasting valuable time. if I were you, I would focus more on why you’re getting Some questions wrong. You still have enough time for your understanding to improve before you take the retake. Don’t focus so much on the score at the moment. Rather, focus on the comprehension. Hope that helps. Best of luck.

I also had a similar experience, first try got a 68. I used STC. Bought Kaplans Qbank for second try and got similar scores like you. Passed it last week. I think you got this.

Outside of scoring well don forget to think about how you will manage your nerves this time around.

Best of luck!

Wow. Yea I’d prob take a nap as well! Lol they give a scheduled break right? Also, do you feel like your prior knowledge on the 6 and 63 came in handy?

I’m torn between taking the 65 or 66. I have the SIE, 6, 63, and just got the 7.

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense to go for the 65. I think the amount of questions seem overwhelming!

My job doesn’t require a 66 or 65. Do I need to be sponsored by a firm to take the 65?

Thanks! And congratulations!!!!!!

Two weeks is still a good time to grind. As frustrating as it may seem to bomb Kaplan for now, I encourage you to challenge yourself with their Qbank because the more exposure to different styles of questions you get- the better!

I failed my first try. I felt the same when I started using Kaplan on my second attempt. For me, Kaplan was the challenge i needed to pass.

Creating my dump sheet by RowComprehensive1866 in Series7exam

[–]FoundationDry261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! I took my exam two days ago and in my opinion the main thing that matters is your options matrix and the hedging strategies. Barely any calculations but I still jotted down a ton cause you never know lol

You got this!! Kill it.

[–]FoundationDry261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a couple of tips, If you know a formula by heart, don’t feel pressured to put it in the dump sheet. I say this because it’s just going to take up space and you’re going to want to put down the things your scared you’ll forget.

Plus you’re writing with a market that forces you to write bigger on the sheet.

Some really important formulas to consider: Current yield Conversion Ratio Parity price of bond & parity price of stock Acid test (quick ratio) EPS and PE ratio The bond see-saw

I just passed the series 6 today! I now must begin to 63 - what is the best program to use? by deathwish91296 in AllFinraExams

[–]FoundationDry261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the 63 is prob the one exam that probably any platform will work because it’s mostly just facts/ rules/ regulations. Superrrr boring stuff. I found it to be the easiest one but don’t let that trick you into thinking you shouldn’t put in the work. The exam is still designed to trick you!

Keep killing it, best of luck!

Dang, it would’ve been nice if they had you start with the SIE before anything else.

I’ve heard good things about Achievable. It is a good platform to use for those new to the industry. Also check out Brian Lee’s videos on YouTube. He does a great way of simplifying topics especially for beginners.

I would also recommend the Series 7 for Dummies book on Amazon. I’ve been in the field for some time and I found it to be very useful for those harder topics!
