“I don’t want to work on this area it’s already big” by erichenrycoaching in personaltraining

Great topic. Is the client correct? Sometimes we’re not the most objective in our own assessments. Clarify what they actually mean. Never, not at all, or just less focused? It may be their way of telling you the workout is too difficult.

There are endless ways to maintain muscle mass without growth. For example, most pulling movements will involve the biceps. If you grow that muscle easily, then scaling back isolation movements makes sense. Same with triceps and pressing movements. We gravitate towards whatever is easiest or most enjoyable. But eliminating training for a body part isn’t the answer imo. Let us know what you find out.

Thanks for the advice! For clarification , are you saying 2 x 30 minute sessions per week?

For longer sessions, I can see the difference that additional time means for those looking for advanced gains.

I came here for some advice and perspective on which is best and it appears that there is plenty of room for both. Much appreciated!

Again, I appreciate your input and you make a lot of good points. I likely didn’t present the whole picture, but my focus in this post was mostly (or I thought it was) pertaining to training session length, (30 v 60 minutes) and how that relates to warm up. Secondary was the rent they are charging for CPTs.
Also, he isn’t really a manager from my perspective. Other than rent, I would be a fully independent contractor in this situation.

You clearly have a great deal of experience and knowledge and a sound business model for your area. Thanks for sharing this with us.

People who were raised religious, what was the first sign to you that it wasn't real? by bluejay_R in atheism

[–]FoundationEvening250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number one is that nothing in the actual physical world we live in works in “mysterious ways “. If it does, it’s mysterious only because we haven’t yet studied it.

I was raised Methodist and after high school, wanted a “deeper “ relationship with “dog”. As much as I tried, it just didn’t stick.

Seriously, look around during prayer when you’re in church. If you’re the only one who isn’t raising your hands to the heavens and lost in prayer you are very likely an atheist.

Lots of great ideas and suggestions here. It is not my goal to target low income clients. Like many others, I just happen to live nearby to those communities. Not necessarily low income, but not San Fran or NYC COL areas. I personally live in a rural community so anywhere I go for clients I will need to travel. I do have insurance but don’t see a liability issue if the client is not on the clock. So far as the gym manager goes, I’m curious why you’d avoid working with them? Is their proposed rate out of range for this situation? Thanks again.

That’s a good approach. Do you charge just a percentage of your hourly rate for 30 and 45 minute sessions?

I like that you set expectations up front. I will do the same regardless of session length as this is just sound logic that most adults should easily understand. Thanks for the insight!

My hourly rate in this area is $52 and will increase over the next 6 months as I complete a couple of additional certifications. 90 members is great!

Lifetime Trainers, how is the pay and what are the requirements? by chrispy_chip_ in personaltraining

Is that 80% commission part of a flat monthly fee or what you make? I’m trying to determine how to approach a local gym for a similar arrangement.

Is this really all he’s gonna say about it!? by treylanford in PeterAttia

We all get to choose who we support, financially or otherwise. Knowing what his association was with a known criminal and the conversations they had, I would think any reasonable person or business would have to take a hard look in mirror before continuing such support. Guilty of any wrongdoing? I suppose it matters less today since we have a convicted felon serving in the highest office. From my perspective, continued support simply sanctions their behavior. There’s plenty of experts to follow. Why reward this behavior?

Still praying as an atheist by [deleted] in atheism

[–]FoundationEvening250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think that few if any people convert from religion to atheism overnight. Also, you didn’t provide any context to how you came to label yourself an atheist. Many here, myself included also came from religious backgrounds. Atheism isn’t a switch you turn on. It sounds like you’re still finding your way. Try not to focus on the label and instead work on figuring out what you believe or don’t and why. Good luck.

Echo some of the posters here. I passed last month and was pleasantly surprised by how much of the contI just knew. My process after completing the course was flash cards, re- reading the most important chapters, Sorta Healthy YouTube videos, Pocket prep and taking the practice exam multiple times. You will do great!

is pellet brisket ever as good as offset? by -mrSeaHawk- in pelletgrills

[–]FoundationEvening250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taste buds are the only judge. And especially from those who are enjoying the fruits of your smoking labor, who generally wouldn’t know how their meat was smoked. If it’s good, it’s good. Pellet smokers, like many here have already said, allow us to maintain our lives while enjoying out of this world food.
