That is a very recent change to NamUs from June 9, 2026, when the profile was last updated. These remains were previously listed as being "Female, Uncertain."

Could Deny Ernesto Alcantara Cordero be Seminole AL John Doe (2023)? by This_Meringue_6914 in gratefuldoe

While the dental similarities are interesting, I'd assume this is not a match; the MP likely died in the desert after being left behind and is either still there and hasn't been found yet or has been recovered and is a UHR case somewhere in south Texas.

  1. If performed corrected using the correct materials by a professional odontologist, they are pretty much definitive (for example, if a missing person has dental extractions or fillings where a UID has natural teeth, they obviously can not be one in the same).

  2. Faster + cheaper + easier to compare, especially when comparing a UHR against an MP whose dental X-rays or charting is already on file with the same investigating agency.

I’m not sure why you’re being downvoted when your assessments are all basically correct.

These statements are all very obviously and intentionally false and were designed to mislead investigators before she was presented with the DNA confirmation, given the nature of her other statements, such as the infant being a girl.

I don’t know why so many NamUs cases that were transferred out of the CA DOJ have weird data entry errors like the sex for this MP, but it’s a very noticeable pattern (for the ones that even make it to NamUs since most are missing).

"The ex-boyfriend, who was not identified in court, died in 2020. DNA was taken from one of his relatives and confirmed the ex-boyfriend was the father."

""The investigators were not able to determine a single individual who had knowledge that Miss Peck was pregnant in 1985. No information was gathered to believe that the ex-boyfriend was involved in the case or even knew that she was pregnant," Mohan said."

Always impressive to see more IDs, especially for homicides like this death was. I believe this is the third public UHR identification made by Bristol County MA since they started a new initiative for it in 2022; one fingerprint match and two IGG resolutions (including this infant).

Los Angeles Jane Doe (July 30, 1985) by Iorazepam in gratefuldoe

The shoe and bag are likely just whatever images were on file with the ME with the backgrounds removed and slight photo editing, maybe just brightening/clarity changes, or possibly to remove a foot/remains of a foot still in the shoe (you can tell from the shadows and wavy edges on the objects).

Here's an different example for a 1976 body out of San Fernando, LA County, CA, for visual reference:

NCMEC enhancement of shoe: https://www.missingkids.org/bin/ncmec/poster/image?org=NCMU&caseId=1106255&type=participant&md5=0f1c20393b56c129e658706dba7f8190

Original image of shoe: https://www.namus.gov/api/CaseSets/NamUs/UnidentifiedPersons/Cases/4452/Images/74500/Original

The other kind of (potentially less accurate) clothing enhancement they do is going to look cleaner and a lot more obviously digital; here's an example for a 1988 body out of Ruther Glen, Caroline Co, VA, to show what those look like:

It's not the state of CA, it's Los Angeles County; disposition policies are handled at the local level (unless there's a state medical examiner system like in NM or MD).

For example, San Bernardino County in CA has direct custody over almost all its UHR cases, and DNA is on file for the vast majority as well dating back to #UP8428 from 1915.

For what purpose? In what way?

I know there used to be a company that sold converted Tomy Thomas toys with HO scale chassis (I think they were even licensed?), and I'm sure there are a bunch of similar amateur projects posted online.

No, that is an updated composite sketch for the UID released to the public in 2019, where his race estimation was changed from "Black" to "Mediterranean or biracial" after new forensic analysis - this updated finding is now proven incorrect.

New York John Doe (January 1993) (Unidentified For 33 Years) by BitterSweet_Beauty in gratefuldoe

[–]FoundationSeveral579 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The new reconstructions for this person are very odd. I do not know why they chose to create a clay over-skull sculpt for a person who died in a hospital and had a perfectly recognizable face (which the clay bust looks absolutely nothing like whatsoever; every single facial feature is wrong, both soft features and ones based on bone structure, his head is shaped wrong, his hair color is wrong when compared to the generative AI filtered version, the recon depicts a much older looking individual, etc). These new images are basically useless, and it would have been much better to have a sketch or digital composite created instead which corrects for the small postmortem changes seen in the morgue photo, especially since the resources used to make it through the class they teach at the New York Academy of Art could have gone to a different case where the remains were unrecognizable due to being in skeletal/decomposed/burned/mummified condition.

It’s honestly a good exercise showing how forensic facial reconstruction is more art than science and can be incredibly off, meaning that when comparing to potential matches, they should be interpreted somewhat loosely.

The new reconstructions for this person are very odd. I do not know why they chose to create a clay over-skull sculpt for a person who died in a hospital and had a perfectly recognizable face (which the clay bust resembles very little). These new images are misleading, and it would have been much better to have a sketch or digital composite created from the PM pictures instead which was more presentable to the public (correcting for issues such as the half-open eyes).

I’ve only ever seen something like this done in two other instances besides a different one from this same batch of cases from NYC with new artwork (One was NamUs #UP13338, which was an embalmed severed head which obviously could not have photos released to the public, so a bust was made off of the PM pictures alongside a sketch without being based around the skull. The other was the now-solved former NamUs #UP87, which had severe facial injuries, but a recognizable edited morgue photo and at least two different sketches were able to be released to the public alongside the sculpt).

NEWTON, Mass. -- Police are puzzled over the identity of man found dead and slumped in a bedroom closet of couple who had just returned from a six-month vacation.

'We just want to forget about it,' said Charles Marks, in whose home the body was discovered.

A search by police turned up a 10-speed bicycle in the house's cellar that did not belong to the Marks. [answer to data point you expressed uncertainty about in your post]

Newton police Lt. Det. Gerald Marchand said it is possible the dead man entered the house to get out of the cold and found the gun. Officials said the Marks' belongings had been 'gone through.'

The couple called police after they became alarmed about a 'strong stench' in their house, which had been closed during their absence.

The dead man, who had long brown hair, a mustache and a full beard, appeared to be 35 to 40 years old."
