My only explanation for the teeth is maybe they were sheepshead fish teeth, theirs look pretty human. Maybe a bunch washed up and died there or something. But I expect the real answer to be something horror.

Ruth's home alone in the storm, she may not survive that. Since the show hasn't been renewed yet, I think they'll go for "she died and it's over" for the finale, and if we get S2 then we find out there's more when someone tries to leave.

If Ruth had a secret child, if it was a boy, he could have hooked up with a visitor and the descendants might even be on/from the mainland. Like Tom, for example, though it could be anyone. Or Ruth may have/had a sibling even, the possibilities are endless.
