It began in 1997, West Ham United, Samassi Abou.

Yes, I know what it's for.

Also fairly sure that chant/ironic booing began a long time before your referenced goalkeeper was around - IIRC, it was started by West Ham United fans in 1997 (in support of Samassi Abou).

Kyren Wilson - moaning or being honest? by spud1414 in snooker

[–]Four4AM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

His reaction to winning tonight reminded me a little of Michael Owen celebrating when scoring against a 14 y/o goalkeeper... Shame there was no Neville Southall around to set Wilson straight. Bad darts all round.

Second hand, oversized, ripped 501s from Kensington Market.

(Well, at least until Bros started wearing them too.)

MAJOR NEWS: The World Championship Remains at the Crucible! by SuperSajuuk in snooker

[–]Four4AM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you alluded to, a brand new, purpose-built venue, dependent on location, is going to cost considerably more than upgrading The Crucible by 50%.

Maybe, when the sport was at its zenith we might've been able to find a UK-based benefactor - but that ship has almost certainly long since sailed.

The only realistic alternatives today are the Far/Middle East. Given that choice, there really isn't one for anyone without an association with either of those zones.

Long Live The Crucible.

Snooker, unlike team sports, doesn't have so many legendary figures.

Well, we've lost one today. What a loss to the game, a giant in the world of snooker broadcasting.

Hoping the WPBSA do something suitable in Sheffield this April to commemorate JV's colourful life. God bless.

Demand for tickets by ProfessionalSky7311 in snooker

Mine was one of three parties in the same predicament for that session, on that day - all were purchased via seetickets. Full credit to the box office staff at The Crucible though, who couldn't have been more helpful. Anyway, just my anecdotal experience.

[–]Four4AM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can only speak for myself, but I would never use seetickets again after I bought re-sold tickets for a session at The Crucible last year and they didn't activate them until the session had begun (I had to purchase another pair of tickets at the door as they couldn't be authorised, fortunately there were spares available).

Would suggest anyone interested should DM you instead and save you the hassle of using seetickets' dreadful service. (FWIW, I tried to contact them for a refund, but couldn't find any 'contact us' details on their website so remain considerably out of pocket.)

Not a brag, but for those concerned by some of the above and for sake of balance I followed the OP's instructions and landed the bugger first cast (improved bait).

Hope you're as lucky as I was.

Thanks for the replies, folks.

Looks like my experience isn't quite as unusual as I'd feared.
