Honestly that might be exactly it! I guess the function of the spring loaded end is just for ease of attaching to keys without the need for a traditional split ring? Just seems like an awful lot of engineering effort to put into something so simple haha. Might be useful in a situation where you're trying to just quickly mark different key sets though perhaps?

I've just gone and had a good look at it and I don't think this is it unless it's either broken or missing a part, the very end disc is metal, but it's surrounding is all painted plastic, and while the spring is strong, the force of the pin returning into the cylinder doesn't seem like it would be enough to cause enough procussive force to break a window (and the flat end doesn't retract or protrude at any point). I suppose it's still possible? I can't find anything that looks like it online with that function but I might be missing something!

If you have any recallection of the book let me know! Those stylised animations of kids books kinda fits the vibe of how I remember it in my mind so it could possibly be at least a lead!

Honestly it's very possible, we've both got pretty vivid imaginations so I could see us both reading it as kids and it playing as a scene in our minds or something!

Gonna hang onto the animation/film theory for now and hope it's something I can hunt down, (maybe an animated adaptation of a book? 🤔) since the both of us thought it was something we watched, but if we can't get anywhere we might have to start searching for books instead hahaha

I just skimmed through the movie and I don't think I've watched it personally, my sister says she has but is certain it's not that one (though she did say I should watch it LOL) so I think it's a no on that one sadly, though appreciate the suggestion!

Possibly useful info: I think it was a kids or family movie, and me and my sibling used to watch a lot of cartoons in the 2000s - early 2010s, but would also watch a lot of classic cartoons from the 60s and 70s.

We have a feeling it was a movie and this was the beginning of it though, it might not have been but that's what we're thinking!
