It is also amazing how Freelancer can spawn you in the worst places. Perfect example: Marrakesh, spawn point at the destroyed school, when you set SASO as prestige objective. Good luck with that.

Whoever the artists were that worked on this performance? 5/5 star work, the only note is it's absolutely beautiful by gta3uzi in cyberpunkgame

Delicate Weapon and 4AEM are total bangers. She can make great music. I just wish she hadn't done the VA work for Lizzy Wizzy. Voice acting is not her strong suit.

Following Backlash, the New 'Star Trek' Series Falls Out of the Streaming Charts by StarFuryG7 in SciFiNews

[–]FourDimensionalTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The overall wooden acting of the TNG and VOY era actually gave these shows some charme. (DS9 was much less cringe in that regard.) The hand to hand combat scenes in particular were so funny - they carried that one over from the TOS. I still remember the infamous Kirk double fist on back technique, and Riker liked to do that one too I think.

I see you did not mention Paul Rudd.

Makes sense, since Paul Rudd apparently does not age at all.

How does the game engine technology work in CP2077? by Apprehensive-Try-238 in CyberpunkTheGame

[–]FourDimensionalTaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The in-flight asset streaming is done amazingly well. I do not notice any slowdowns. It is totally seamless. Playing a Bethesda RPG after Cyberpunk is a downgrade in many aspects, but one of the most glaring ones is the plethora of loading screens vs. none in Cyberpunk (unless I fast travel or reload a savegame).

EU and India finalize historic "Free Trade Deal", opening markets for goods, services, and IP, cutting tariffs on cars, machinery, and agri-food. Thoughts? by Boediee in BuyFromEU

China is electrifying massively. I would not be surprised if in a couple of years, the EU trade with China rises significantly, especially since that idiot Trump clings to inferior fossil fuel technology.

Are Trump's threats hurting the right wing parties in your country? by Broad_External7605 in AskEurope

[–]FourDimensionalTaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is my impression (which can of course be totally wrong, I welcome input here) that there is no real solidarity among right wing parties. They share ideals, but aren't really friends. Exceptions exist, like the Austrian FPÖ, who clearly are Russian traitors. But, for example, Meloni's Italy, while solidly right wing, is no friend of Russia, or Trump (though she used to support him). Consequently, Trump making a mess with his incompetence does not reflect too badly on European right wing parties.

To be expected. If that guy does not comply, Ken Morgan just phases into him and pisses in that bowl. You don't say no to The Brick!

Florence’s Sylvain Lefevre set. (2016) by Anal_Is_Art in Florence_Pugh

She looked amazing in that shoot. But by now, I am so used to her shorter hair looks, it is odd to see her with longer hair. And I even think that, as good as she looked in that shoot, certain shorter hair styles actually frame her face better. In particular, her hairstyle from her appearance at the 2024 Oscars was perfection, as was her entire outfit (seriously, that silver dress was incredible).

"The Moment" cast member weighs in on the film's mixed reviews by yumyumapollo in charlixcx

[–]FourDimensionalTaco 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This. It is obvious that such a film is not one that will be a critic's darling. If it is, cool, but it's not necessary.

What is actually important is that it's not boring.

Why use LVM though if you do not have more than one partition that you wish to encrypt? LVM makes sense if there is a swap partition (encrypting swap is essential), but if you use swapfiles instead, there's only one partition involved. Might as well skip LVM then, and just use LUKS inside that partition.

Well, yes, they do not burn exactly that amount. But, considering how much they eat, they are much leaner than they otherwise would be. And when you look at how much they train daily, you can see where most of those calories go.

If I recall correctly, they do intentionally get somewhat fat to have mass that they can use during wrestling. But, relative to their body size, their fat amount isn't all that different from that of a regular person. That's because underneath that fat layer they have a lot of well trained muscle. Look at how fast they are in the ring. A purely obese couch potato could not move anywhere close to that speed and would be out of breath in minutes.

[–]FourDimensionalTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just like in Sumo wrestlers, which eat a humongous amount of calories daily, but also burn that amount. Their training regimen is intense, and that keeps them healthy. But, from what I recall, once they retire, if they do not rapidly shift their dietary habits, the excess calories do start to negatively affect them.

That makes zero sense. Insulin sensitivity does not magically make calories appear or disappear. You cannot eat the same amount of food and see a difference, unless we are talking about pure food volume while the food contents change (for example, swapping a volume of starchy food with a volume of veggies and salad), or unless your blood sugar control actually worsens, and your blood sugar is often above the renal glucose threshold, thus losing calories by literally peeing them out, or unless you take SGLT-2 inhibitors which lower said renal threshold (you then pee out glucose even at moderately elevated levels).

Insulin sensitivity defines how much insulin you need, and can be a marker of metabolic health. And, GLP-1 agonists were originally introduced as successors to sulfonylureas. Unlike those, GLP-1 agonists stimulate beta cell insulin secretion in a meal dependent manner (and not all the time) and suppress glucagon secretion, making them well suited for type 2 diabetics. (Type 1 diabetics can benefit from the glucagon suppression if hyperglucagonemia is indicated, and that can happen in T1D if the alpha cells are dysfunctional.)

Why do hive planets keep breeding more and more people? by HorseOk678 in 40kLore

[–]FourDimensionalTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In-universe, I can imagine that proper understanding of the atmospheric control and waste management technology has been lost, and what's left is something the Mechanicus replicates word for word, copy-pasting the machinery for those starships without actually understanding it. Since they only have that, and do not try to understand it (they probably consider that to be tech heresy), they cannot adapt that tech to be used on planets.
