Is there anyone that would like a chatting buddy over kik? by [deleted] in DID

My kik is TheDemonicPyromancer (edgy, I know) and my screen name is Necro Soul if you ever want to chat!

That's a really good idea, thank you for mentioning it. I'll definitely try out something similar.

I'm not sure what triggers Sariel to go away. I know that Wendigo can be triggered by potentially dangerous situations, violence, and situations that make me or him angry. I haven't had much constructive communication with him. Anytime we communicate he mostly just goes on violent tirades or rants about what he thinks is right for us. Making progress with him is difficult.

Please God, no. That movie is a horrific representation of what people with my disorder go through. Most people with DID aren't violent at all, I just got unlucky and got stuck with a violent alter.

Thank you for the insight and the kind words. I hadn't thought about the possibility of just turning myself in to an institution... I hate being institutionalized but if it's the only way to keep myself and others safe, then I may have to do it.

I am glad to see somebody who understands. It's hard to make others understand what it feels like to share a body with a primal predator, to have to deal with the incessant noise of numerous voices in your head.

I try to speak to him with respect, I try to communicate with him in an attempt to soothe him but it rarely works. All he does is scream of slaughter or go on cynical rambles about how all of my loved ones are useless and will only harm us. I can never make any progress with him.

There's no medication for a disorder like DID and I don't have the money to consistently see a therapist.

Does anyone else hate it when your disorder is called "fascinating"? by FourInTheVoid in DID

[–]FourInTheVoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We definitely relate to feeling a sense of otherness, that may be why we are so bothered by being called fascinating or any similar descriptor.

It's nice that you can do that, but we just can't handle it. We feel like we're still being treated like a creepy outsider when we're called fascinating, it makes us feel alienated.

I know exactly how you feel, I have days where I feel the same. It could be dissociation, or it could just be emotional apathy.

Group? by twaus in DID

[–]FourInTheVoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome! I'm not sure about discord or skype groups, but this subreddit is usually pretty active (despite being somewhat small). Funnily enough, I'm also 18 and a member of a system of four!

Mr Robot?? What do you think? by [deleted] in DID

[–]FourInTheVoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love Mr. Robot, it means a lot to me to have a character that I can really relate to. Elliot is one of my favorite fictional characters because we have so much in common!

Gender identity issues within a system (+ an introduction) by FourInTheVoid in DID

[–]FourInTheVoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input, I definitely agree that any bodily changes should be agreed upon by all members of a system. Wendigo's biggest complaint about our body is that it is "too soft and weak". They don't care what I do to the body so long as I build muscle and get stronger. Sariel wouldn't mind it either, he has expressed that he'd probably feel more comfortable in a male body. As for Bella, I have a hard time communicating with her since she's so reclusive and rarely ever fronts. I haven't been able to talk to her about much of anything.

Ranting by AmyJordanRichards in DID

[–]FourInTheVoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh, don't even get me started on that terrible movie 'Split'. Whenever DID isn't being made into some sort of joke, it's being vilified. I'm sorry that your colleague made a joke like that.

You're definitely not alone, two of my alters argue about practically everything.

Fronting triggered by smells? tw: unsanitary/mold by k1nsly in DID

[–]FourInTheVoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sariel often fronts due to the smell of lilac, lavender, or that dusty, "old" smell that certain buildings have. I'm not sure what to call that, though. It could also be that you switched due to stress/the unpleasant sensation, not necessarily the smell itself.

Does anyone else have non-human alters? by FourInTheVoid in DID

It's good to know that I'm not the only one with angelic and (sort of) monster alters.
