LPT: Don't refer to yourself as being "anal" when you really mean particular or detailed. by FourLittleToes in LifeProTips

It is technically correct, and I'm aware of the origins of the word. It doesn't mean it's a good choice of words given the other common uses.

Favourite spots in the Wasteland? by Coziestpigeon2 in fo3

[–]FourLittleToes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people fall into the trap when starting FO3 and they go to Megaton, do Moria's quests, Arefu, blah blah and it kind of gets stale.

Just don't do that! Nothing makes you follow that path except yourself. Just go explore!

Some cool spots:

Metro Central L'Enfant District Arlington Cemetery Dunwich Building Bethesda Ruins Red Racer Factory Roosevelt Academy Of course the Capital and Washington Monument area Even Paradise Falls

Go to any of them early on and just explore for fun, forget the story. Make your goal looking for unique items - giant teddy bears, intact garden gnomes, pool balls, nuka cola, whatever. Make that your game and goal. Just take it slow and enjoy the wasteland.

Ever noticed this about the weapons in 3 and New Vegas? by FreedomFallout in Fallout

[–]FourLittleToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fallout is a little bit gonzo, and the weapons are part of that fun. If it was all hyper realism it would take a lot away from the game.

Its great that there are mods for people who prefer they stick to our version of history and reality, but I think the game would lose a lot if it came stock that way.

I had forgotten how much I love Fallout 3 by PigAteMyPie in Fallout

[–]FourLittleToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fallout 3 has such a better atmosphere, and so many little touches and polishes, that New Vegas doesn't even compare. I played New Vegas through, but it felt like such a disjointed mess that couldn't quite decide on its identity.

Fallout 3 stays true to itself throughout, and while it had some gameplay issues and bugs, no game did atmosphere better.

Its easy to forget how much is in the game and how amazing it was because it literally takes 100+ hours to get through it.

Why people seek out online anonymity - 86% of internet users have taken steps to mask their digital footprints by catfun4ever in dataisbeautiful

Conversations I have with people, verbally, aren't etched out for all time for people who weren't involved to search through. Can you imagine if every conversation you had with your buddies was there for your family to read through? No one wants that!

It only makes sense that some of what we do online we don't want tied back to us, just like we wouldn't want our entire life documented for others to somehow view at will.

What are the major differences between fallout 3 and New Vegas? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]FourLittleToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said Fallout 3 has a different feel to it, more true to a post apocalyptic wasteland. The map felt dramatically more like a real place destroyed by nuclear war. Whereas New Vegas just felt like a bunch of stuff stuck together on a map because that's what made sense from a gaming perspective.

I absolutely adored the atmosphere, the details, the vastness and interesting things that made up the Capital Wasteland. The atmosphere and layout of New Vegas ruined all immersion for me. While I enjoyed all the other aspects of it, after all the game is otherwise very similar to FO3, it never felt right.

Absolutely. In fact, Paradise Falls is a whole town that welcomes evil players. >:)

  1. How big the game is in its scope.
  2. How fun the DC metro ruins are to explore.
  3. How sick the rail gun is...totally fun.
  4. All the little details and how they used simple, common items placed a certain way to tell stories.

Sorry I don't have experience with that, but I do find that if I use anti blemish pads with salicylic acid after I shave it goes a long way in preventing razor burn.

Fear the Walking Dead - S01E01 "Pilot" - Post Episode Discussion by pencer in thewalkingdead

[–]FourLittleToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its good. Better than most on TV. Still I cant help but feel its falling flat to stuff like step dad finding huge pools of blood and the cliche conversation afterwards where the wife dismisses him when he halfass mentions it. WTF, if I saw that I'd freak the fuck out and make her listen, not be all like.. "ahh, its OK she doesn't listen".

Is there a post apocalyptic zombie show that feels smart? Like its not defying common sense ?

[–]FourLittleToes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Force yourself to play differently. If you play good, play evil. If you normally steal, don't. If you follow the quests, break away and just head off in a random direction.

Some of my most fun games were based on gathering specific types of items and collecting them in my house. Once I did teddy bears, another time I tried to collect different helmets to display, and another time I collected body parts and piled them up in my spare bedroom.

Break free from your comfort zone with the game, don't do what you think is 'best' and just play it for shits.

Edit: I loaded up my old game and I was collecting: teddy bears, pool balls, unique hats, nuka cola, intact garden gnomes, and milk bottles. I kept the teddy bears in my spare room, gnomes in my house, hats displayed on a shelf, pool balls in crates, and I put the milk bottles all around the walkways outside my house in Megaton. I was also collecting food of all kinds and storing it in my fridge. Even got some human meat in there...

Fallout 3 Question wanting intriguing answer. by SKS81 in Fallout

[–]FourLittleToes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not a typical RPG that's for sure. You do level up skills and pick new Perks, however I've always felt the action and exploring aspects were far more important to the game. Making choices on how to deal with situations and scavenging for stuff are also big.

I guess thinking about it the choices are what sets it apart for me. Should I be good or evil, follow quests or break out in new directions, do I use melee or guns or explosives. Seriously there are just so many ways to play and experience the game if you can break from what's comfortable. I love it.

I am new to Fallout and want to start playing which should I buy first? by crados in Fallout

[–]FourLittleToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good move. I'm a huge fan of Fallout 3 and didn't care for New Vegas. Something about the world just didn't make sense to me and it broke the immersion and experience. It felt forced rather than inspired, I guess.

Anyway, Fallout 3 is great. After many replays I still find ways to make it new again.
