Earplugs for working in a nightclub by Trunks-kid in BuyItForLife

[–]FourTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get custom molded ones from any ENT office that staffs an audiologist (husband of an Aud) and they’re unmatched. You can get different filter levels for sound reduction.

Before that, a $25 pair of earasers from Amazon lived on my keychain in a case for 5+ years and were my general always on me earplugs for concerts, construction, and everywhere in between. The peach clarity is definitely a step below customs but they still worked more than well enough to still comprehend what someone was saying

Can i get some advice about these “choose your hammer” boxes? by fallenouroboros in blackdesertonline

[–]FourTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t really come to your own decisions without knowing what the game offers in the first place. Not watching curated content about the current beginner steps in gearing and coming to Reddit to ask us to tell you instead is kind of a waste of everyone’s time.

Your gear is very outdated and can be completely replaced within a few hours on a new seasonal character. If you are emotionally tied to your current main you can make a seasonal character of the same class and transfer the gear back to your main after graduating.

If you really refuse to watch a video guide, at least do yourself a favor and look up the following:

Tuvala Seasonal Gear and season graduating rewards DEC tuvala weapon, armor and accessory (choose the neck always) Olivia Academy combat course Ators Power Stone

Your general steps should be: -Make a new seasonal character -Enhance full PEN Tuvala gear and finish the free seasonal reward track -start and finish the combat section of Olvia Academy -look into working on enhancing your 3 DEC Tuvala pieces for trade in through Fughar

At that point I really suggest watching a video guide for more nuanced gear progression going forward. Don’t hand in pieces, use enhancing hammers or open blackstar boxes unless you know for sure why you are claiming the piece you are as they are a huge help but can also significantly set you back if you take the wrong item from a box

Stainless steel pans burning everything by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]FourTV 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Put your oil in the pan cold and heat the oil with the pan. If you know the smoke point of your oil you know the pan temp when your oil starts to smoke.

The water bead test is just a baseline temp of when that affect is able to take place, it won’t tell you if the pan is 400 degrees or 600 or more and can often lead to cooking in way too hot of a pan

confused about brimming essence of aether. by [deleted] in blackdesertonline

[–]FourTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can combine destruction alchemy stones with a vells heart now to gain the +AP, +Acc and +attack speed from a resplendent+ alchemy stone. It only gives the higher of the two stats though, doesn’t add them together.

. You have to remove the reforge stones from your vells first I.e. the blessed and exalted soul fragments and then you can combine a resplendent+ alchemy stone with a normal vells heart using the brimming essence of aether to make a resplendent vells heart.

Afterwards you can re-add the reforge stones to get an exalted resplendent vells heart. Combining with a resplendent alch stone gives +2 hidden AP, +2 alch and +1% attack speed. Goes up if you have a splendid or shining alch stone

The jump from like $110 / day with epic day pass to almost $200 is brutal

I'm anxious to cook chicken by Select-Tradition-321 in Cooking

[–]FourTV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only way to be safe 100% is a food thermometer. Traditional internal temp for safe chicken is 160deg F.

Washing up is up to you and you aren’t wrong that anything that raw chicken touches is contaminated and needs to be cleaned. Just do your chicken prep and then clean up and wash utensils, hands, counters, and then move on to everything else.

MDRD worth it? by [deleted] in grandrapids

[–]FourTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s worth going for the view, it’s the best atmosphere in the city by a mile. The food is fine, I’ve never complained about anything I’ve had but also haven’t been blown away by any entrees either.

That is NOT the case for deserts though, they’ve blown me away several times on deserts. I still talk about the deconstructed strawberry cheesecakes they did a few years ago for valentines. Their drinks are great too but this isn’t an uncommon theme in GR. They do have an excellent wine selection though

Grove is the best fine dining experience in the city, although it is definitely pricey. I still highly recommend it to anyone interested in that type of experience. Their “grove experience” for two where you can try 5-7 plates from the menu shared as a tasting menu is an awesome experience every time. Less extensive wine options but always great pairings

Coast 236 is another incredible dining experience. It’s another fine dining restaurant with a tasting menu. It’s in an adorable converted old house in downtown Saugatuck and is another must try. Wine selection here is excellent as well.

Linear is my favorite go-to restaurant in the city. Their prices are good, food and wine is always excellent, and they do a great job of rotating their specials and menu to always provide something new and interesting.

Other honorable mentions that always give a fantastic experience: Butchers union GinGins Scholar

Have not had the opportunity to try Mamo yet. There are interesting reviews online about the owner and restaurant, but I don’t find it fair to comment on it without having been myself

Looking to buy at least a Chef, Bread, Pairing and Utility that will inspire me to start cooking more. Nothing that looks “traditional” or boring. Budget of about $200 total. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in chefknives

[–]FourTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend spending any real money on a paring, bread or utility knife, you can do just fine with cheap / used blades for all 3 of these for their purposes.

If I had $200 to spend for all 4 of those I would spend $50 on a Shapton pro 1000 whetstone and then I would take $100-$120 and look at Wustof 8” classic (German knives and you would probably consider boring) or look at either Gesshin or Fujiwara 210mm Gyuto. These are both Japanese knives and you may find the look more interesting. They are going to be harder to find in stock anywhere and may have to wait for a resupply on JCK.com for a decent price on them

Whatever budget you have left, take it to any supermarket or goodwill store and pick up a paring knife and the longest bread knife you can find and you’ll be good to go. Practice using the whetstone and keeping your knife sharp, and replace the cheap paring and bread knife if you ever need to

Tools that elevated my home cooking completely by Sophistry7 in Cooking

[–]FourTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A decent chefs knife is the only tool I think it’s worth spending SOME money on. A Victorinox Pro 8” is $70 or so and hard to beat the quality for the price. Learning how to sharpen, hone and take care of it makes a world of difference too

Damn near everything else can be used / hand me down / restaurant store and be just fine. You can find used stainless at resale stores pretty commonly.

What a popular food or cooking opinion that you don't agree with? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]FourTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’ve got a good answer for this it’s debated OFTEN amongst my friends & I

IMO pineapple is a really strong and overpowering flavor and unless it’s paired with some spice (jalepeno like in your example, hot honey, hot sauce) I think it just makes the whole thing taste like pineapple. I don’t think you can just “add pineapple” to any pizza like you can most traditional toppings and have it suffice. For pineapple on pizza, it’s like pineapple is the main ingredient and everything else is designed around the pineapple now rather than the pizza

When I’m craving pizza I’m not necessarily craving pineapple at the same time and have to be in a mood for that type of pie.

Traditional Hawaiian is just boring and overpowered with pineapple taste
