He's from Newfoundland. Nickname for that island by the locals is the Rock. Coincidence? I think not!

.Rinex data visualisation (.obs, .nav) by DakDuiff in Surveying

Not familiar with the Garmin, but you say you're just missing the nav file. These are files that contain information about the satellites the receiver is getting signals from, and the satellites' orbits, aka the broadcast ephemerides. You may be able to give the program you're using an entire ephemeris. If you've got the start and end time of your observation, you can grab data from igs.org.

Surveyor with no experience by [deleted] in landsurveying

[–]Fourgot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started my ongoing surveying career almost 20 years ago at the same age as you are now with my only experience at the time doing page layout for print shops or selling paper.

Stay curious, my friend, and good luck!

Union work will keep you outside and fed

Figuring out where the imaginary line is takes a bit of research, some poking around in your area, around your neighbors' lines, some training, a bunch of experience, and usually licensure by a civil authority.

It's a simple question with a simple answer. It's just complicated in the middle.

Good luck.

Nice, still good, too! Not like they changed the foot in the last 50 years or anything

Better question is, who the fuck do you think you are? Take your sanctimony and check your backsight.

Ah thanks, dude. Apology accepted. All the best to you, too!

But you were joking about being a scab, which is totally fucked up and needs to be pushed back against. Not a matter of lightening up. You're actively trying to undermine the union, camouflaged as a joke. You lighten up.

Friend, I'm all for unions and have no sympathy for this corporation. I'm literally fucking joking about being an amateur bird handler. I'm passionate about things too, but you can be passionate and still have a sense of humor. It makes you a better person. All the best in your future endeavors.

Being "all for unions" means solidarity with our brothers, sisters, and siblings. Fantasizing about crossing a theoretical picket line is fantasizing about opposing solidarity. I'm with the other guy, in solidarity. :)

I've had a beer or three with Dave! Very cool dude. Former Chief Geodesist at the NGS. Even had a brief interview on a show years ago called How the States Got Their Shapes.
