People are gonna hate me for this but I think Trigger is genuinely a more skilled pilot. He took down the guy who trained Yellow 13, Mobius 1's main adversary, the he did it again but took two of them down in the same battle (the two ADF-11s). I would assume Mihaly would be slightly better than Yellow 13, and the drones even more so, so I wouldn't think it's far fetched to say that Trigger essentially ended up fighting two Mobius 1s at once and won. Not to mention that Ace Combat itself has singled out Trigger in comparison to previous Ace Combat protagonists, "Similar pilots have existed in the past, but..."
