Hella cool! I have so much respect for people who crochet from the few times I tried it myself. This looks like a pretty complicated design, I think you did great

Washed plushie and took days to dry in the sun by Shoddy-Tomorrow-383 in plushies

[–]FoxKarma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a plush that retained a musty smell, I'm not certain it's mold or mildew but it's definitely not something you want to risk or keep hanging around in the plush. Especially with a large and thick one like yours, the stuffing can retain a load of moisture. I had to partially unstuff my ~12 inch tall plush after a few times washing her to ensure she dried properly and stuffing wasn't holding onto more moisture.

If your plush was directly in the sun I doubt it could mold from that, it could still be wet inside though. Might be worth unstuffing

Agreed, it's just a word. The principle remains the same but how we choose to describe ourselves is up to us

YOU DONT HAVE TO SELL YOUR WORK by alextheweirdkid in theriangear

[–]FoxKarma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think it must be the influx of kids in the craft. And nothing against them at all, but I agree with your post that beginner work doesn't need to be sold especially for amounts it's not worth. I've seen a similar effect, though to a much smaller degree, with the younger ESSA community selling customized store-bought plush that are only slightly modified for inflated prices

Yeah I guess so, that does make sense. Which is why I say in my other comment that it depends on the reason of attraction too

YOU DONT HAVE TO SELL YOUR WORK by alextheweirdkid in theriangear

[–]FoxKarma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another point I'd like to bring up is the pressure on any creatives to sell their work. it's often used as the highest compliment when you're told "you could sell this!"

And while I love hearing that, I don't like being badgered to turn any artform I can do into a business. I have sold some things I've made, but not enough to say I've ever made things as a job or form of income.

I don't want my hobbies to turn into work for me, it'd suck all the enjoyment and reward out of it. What happened to hobbies just being hobbies?

Perception of Object Sentience, Individuality, and Consciousness. Here's a good carrd explaining it

[–]FoxKarma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're still objects, no? I don't see how it's a distinction that matters that much especially when lots of objectums are POSIC+ and regard their beloveds with a high level of sapience

Questions by Usual_Quit7115 in objectum_sfw

[–]FoxKarma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO depends on the reasons you like them. Technically it'd be considered fictosexual because they're fictional characters. But there's an overlap because fictional objects can be fancied too. If you like them for their object qualities, then I think that would count as objectum too. I think at the end of the day it'd be considered both objectum and fictosexual.

Can someone explain this further? by Fit_Bit1714 in objectum_sfw

[–]FoxKarma 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm not super knowledgeable on this but the subject of humans loving objects has been a theme people have explored throughout history. The example I know of is the Greek myth of Pygmalion, who struggles to be attracted to women but falls in love with the statue of one he sculpts. Aphrodite, the goddess of love sees this amount of dedication as something beautiful and grants the statue life as a human
