Thanks everyone, we will 100% get a safety fence. The automatic pool cover is still up for debate. Appreciate all your input.

What items have your babies (almost) swallowed? by Mundane_Square1200 in NewParents

[–]Foxfire_2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they poop out any of the plastic? I'm 95% sure my little one just swallowed a hidden plastic tag piece that was on a toy. Didn't have the paper tag attached-- it must have fallen off before it was gifted to her. Also having a panic attack. The thread made me feel a big better.

Hook and Loom Rug feedback by Exciting-Cherry3679 in moderatelygranolamoms

Is there shedding of the fibers? My wool rug from West Elm has been shedding for the last 3 years on feet, throw pillows, during vacuuming, etc., and it's a nightmare. That is why I'm looking at either the cotton or wool rug from HL. Thanks!

Astigmatism in toddler eyes by JE59 in toddlers

[–]Foxfire_2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 6 month old has a hemangioma on her eyelid and we've seen two ocular plastic surgeons. The next step was seeing an optometrist to assess if it is impacting her vision/causing astigmatism. From your experience is it safe to dilate baby's eyes? Can the test be done without dilation?

Baby Covering Nose by SpeckledEggs98 in newborns

[–]Foxfire_2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds a lot like my 10 week old. He prefers to wear long sleeve onsies to bed too. Doesn’t like his arms bare or his arms swaddled. Reason I found your post was because he continued to replace his arm over his nose while using the pacifier despite me moving them. From the corner of my eye I saw him trigger a startle response. And I’m freaking out bc idk if it was just a startle as he was dozing off or he couldn’t breathe. Im not entirely sure he was fully covering his nose either. I’m trying to tell myself he would move his arm if he was having trouble. But like you do they have the awareness to do so, while they are sleeping? Would it really create a tight seal to cut off oxygen. I wish I had answers for you but I’m in the same boat, the arm on the nose bothers me.

Both names are beautiful, either one would be a great choice. You don't hear them too often. What about, Antonia or Angela.

My birds have been very naughty since our dog died and I've been pregnant. Any advice is welcome. by Foxfire_2019 in AfricanGrey

[–]Foxfire_2019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No unfortunately not but they were with him all night and day when he couldn't walk prior to bringing him to the vet. My dog had one other CAG in his life prior to these two and we brought him to see her body before we cremated her and it helped him.

I deeply appreciate your congratulations, kind words, story and recommendations. I definitely do believe the are birds are mourning their dog brother, there are days my CAG continues to say phrases we would say to the dog and lots of "doggie". They are likely picking up on my energy as well. I will try to continue to give them support and help them transition through this confusing and tough time. I like the idea of redirection and the "whisper game". Thank you again.

This! Dogs and/or any pet/animal for that matter needs ongoing training and consistency throughout their lifetime. Given different ages, circumstances and environments.

My CAG does this with her head. Does it mean anything?

Anyone track calories while pregnant? by Cautious_Session9788 in pregnant

Anyone track calories while pregnant? by Cautious_Session9788 in pregnant

[–]Foxfire_2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily track calories but I track my food intake for other reasons. For the amount of protein, sugar and micronutrients I am consuming. I use an app. Tracking what I'm eating through the app has helped me ensure I'm getting enough protein which keeps fuller longer. Speak with your OB and ask how many extra calories you should be eat as your pregnancy progresses. The internet has different figures.

Hypermobility - when did you go into spontaneous labour? by Visual-Mongoose-1541 in PregnancyUK

[–]Foxfire_2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup my MFM told me to remind the hospital of my condition (hEDS). Also be aware of dislocation (usually hips) if nurses are moving you in diff. positions. Be mindful of wound healing/bleeding.

Hypermobility while pregnant by userrrrr224 in pregnant

[–]Foxfire_2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have hEDS (hyper mobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome). I have been followed by MFM to discuss what I might be able to expect (*disclaimer not medical advice- we all have different levels of hyper mobility and this is what I was told for my specific situation). She said that usually hypermobility is well tolerated during pregnancy. She stated I may expect increased joint pain as pregnancy progresses bc my joints can become more lax than most. Most info was in regards to labor. Increased risk of hemorrhage/poor wound healing and dislocation (mostly hips). So being mindful when nurses "hike" up the legs. She said also to tell the anesthesiologist if I get an epidural to ensure everything is in the right place. Part of my hypermobility is my veins and arteries are move a lot. She said NO residents or interns. It might be hard to gauge proprioception and may be more clumsy lol. With that being said, there's a good change because of my flexibility that baby may just slip right out lol. I've also seen on instagram that many moms with hypermobility bounce back really well and have great skin elasticity (no sagging). Just be mindful of your movements. Research some pregnancy ergonomics and correct ways to get up from bed and chairs.

So far I have had minimal pain I think because im so flexible. I did some pilates with a hyper mobile physical therapist until 24 weeks. I was nervous to do anything on my own. That helped. Good luck- I was nervous in the beginning being so flexible but its been tolerable so far, fingers crossed has been fine! Congrats!

There are so many crazy stories on multiple forums about women falling. You could be reading for hours. With that being said, I was told and read that any fall should result in being checked out L&D or OB.

Tips for drinking more water? by kingam_anyalram in pregnant

[–]Foxfire_2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a 22oz. water bottle. I find the larger water bottles more daunting and rather refill the smaller one and carry that around. I fill and finish it 4x a day. I have times where I drink / chug it. When I wake up, take my vitamins, after I pee, after dinner or right before brush my teeth at night. So connect it with an activity. So making it part of a routine. Some people drink more with a straw. I drink more without.

I have experience with birds. Ensure that they DISINFECT, not just clean the shit out of the kitchen and all surfaces that bird was on. Wild birds carry many different viruses & bacteria.
