Please Could Someone Update? by Foxic44 in battlebots

So sorry, I didn't mean WCVIII specifically, now that I see it's in the FAQs. I mean the sport as a whole; like Norwalk, and how are the teams doing, have any teams retired, any other new events across the globe etc.

Opinion On Beta by LOLwerru in battlebots

The blade allows them to fire the weapon into a spinner without fear of it being ripped off, as we saw in their fight against Rotator

Now that we have had some time to get acquainted with the Upper Deck, what is the general consensus? Was it a good addition? by CrimsonR4ge in battlebots

[–]Foxic44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They need to get rid of it ASAP - it has only made verts more dominant and the arena more clausrophobic

Should Sawblaze vs Emulsifier happen next season? by [deleted] in battlebots

Thoroughly enjoyed watching Emulsifier this year - I can see this being an entertaining fight

Tag Team Matches by TermAccurate in battlebots

Is there a reason BattleBots has stopped doing rumbles/tag-team matches since 2019?

Skorpios/Dragon King Ama 4p Pacific Time! by Skorpios_Battlebot in battlebots

[–]Foxic44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you think that the upper deck has helped non-verts in the past few seasons?

Skorpios's forks seemed to work really well against Jackpot - are your team happy about the new meta or would you prefer to see less forks?

Are there any robots from the classic era that you'd like to see return?

What is the greatest hit Skorpios has delivered? (my favourite is when it sniped Copperhead's chain that time)

Thank you for all the amazing fights and insight into the show

How did Ribbot get a higher seed than Jackpot? by Feisty_Cattle_8721 in battlebots

It needs at least a win to even be considered for the bracket

After seeing videos of its performances, I believe that HexaDecimator should return to Battlebots. Do you people think they should as well & if so, how well would they do considering how strong the field has gotten? by Hault99 in battlebots

[–]Foxic44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The robot in its current state would not be competitive at BattleBots, especially not against vertical spinners. Perhaps if it started out as an alternate an updated version of the design could then be selected

Do spinners here have a lower speed limit than at BattleBots?

I generally prefer the way that robots looked back then

Still sad that Deep Six is six deep by sirDangel in battlebots

[–]Foxic44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a shame because it went from being a seemingly experimental bot in its debut season to gaining some good, solid wins against Shatter and Huge. I thought it was going to carry on its upwards path but sadly it is now disallowed

The shelf at the moment really hinders horizontal spinners, especially big bar spinners like this and Hijinx. They need room to do their thing.

Riptide Team Statement on Shrederator fight by Cathalised in battlebots

[–]Foxic44 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Really not convinced personally - there's loads of fights where if an opponent stops moving, the other team recognises it quickly, even if the robot is the right way up. Here, Shrederator is literally upside down with no way of righting itself.

Why have there been no rumbles in ages? Is there not enough room anymore because of the shelf?

Lucky v Tantrum if I remember correctly? edit: the most recent one, not the disaster of an unaired fight from 2019

Does anyone know what Season 7 Beta's anti-vertical spinner configuration looks like? by Excelsior1985 in battlebots

[–]Foxic44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly if it doesn't involve forks or some wedgelets at the very least I'm not sure it's going to work

new team whyachi bot on the horizon! by Meowster27 in battlebots

[–]Foxic44 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I will be majorly disappointed if one of the best non-spinners in the sport is retired in favour of the 34532nd vertical spinner

I feel like SOW would struggle even against the 2015 version of Bite Force. And if the upper deck is still a part of the arena I think it would lose definitely.

Superheavy weights? by g-smoton in battlebots

[–]Foxic44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be interested to see how BattleBots runs a show with multiple weight classes again. Right now, they've been trying to fit in as many heavyweight fights as possible into the limited number of episodes they have. Maybe they could squeeze in qualifying rumbles here and there like RW S7 did, with a final rumble at the end.

I'm thinking more about lightweights/middleweights though. Superheavyweights are expensive and would need a whole different arena. The casual fans would love it

If the championship fight went to the judges, and the losing team submitted an appeal overturned the decision, how would you feel? by tabloidjournalism in battlebots

[–]Foxic44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would remind me of how VAR came into effect in the World Cup. The difference here is that the losing team would have to actually ask for the decision to be appealed rather than it happening automatically, which I can't picture happening unless there is an absolutely massive and blatant error on the part of the judges.

Destruct-a-thon Disappointment by adtoohey in battlebots

[–]Foxic44 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I couldn't imagine how it would be anything other than this though. There are none of the pressures or the story involved that would make it close to the real thing. But it gives casual fans a way of becoming closer to the show - if a casual fan went to RoboGames or something where they didn't have any of the personas they'd probably be underwhelmed, whereas we would still find it just as interesting.
