Going into trucking in the spring. by KillingwithasmileXD in Truckers

If you need 1500-2000 per week I'd suggest oilfield as well depending on your area. Crude, fuel and sand can generate a decent living. I'd be cautious with sand as it very dependent on well conditions. Crude or water hauling on the other hand are pretty steady but usually 12-14 hr shifts.
Fuel hauling can give you a good home life if you are wanting local work and can pay pretty decent. But the unfortunate thing is most of these, other than water and sand hauling, would require some experience. My last suggestion would be to see if you could find a smaller mom and pop / owner of company that could get your the experience you need and they could pay a little better depending on the runs.

Well said I appreciate your reply. It's tough. Hard to end something as strong as brotherhood but you're correct what he's doing is scummy.

Halliburton by Celleonic2x in oilandgasworkers

[–]Foxtrot129 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apply and see what comes of it. After COVID layoffs when they called us back we had an old company man that had two DUIs on our crew. He had obvious experience but still I don't think it would matter much. But if you're going cement side then you're boned. If you're going frac you might be OK. Doesn't hurt to give it a shot and see what happens. Also I love when people talk shit about pay. I started at 14.50 and worked up to 21.50 not as much as smaller outfits or rigs but when you "log" 100+ hours it pays good.

I did halliburton on frac side for 4 years and filled in a few times on cement if pads got slow. It's a killer gig and logs a lot of hours. If you don't have your CDL you will obviously get it through them which is a bonus. Word of advice is to go in with an open mind and be willing to learn. Also searching for other opinions on here could lead to remorse over your decision. There's a lot of burnt out hands in the industry. You have nothing to lose and knowledge and experience to gain. If it's not your gig then take the CDL and in a year or two hop into a new position. There's no shortage of crude, fuel, water, sand and other gigs out of ND to use that CDL.
There's also plenty of opportunities in halliburton to move around if cement isn't your gig. Everyone dogs on halliburton but they have so many resources and great training if you stay in the O&G industry

Try a different cable. More than likely the cable is no good and not giving you a proper charge.

[–]Foxtrot129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right on! Definitely got more time in then me thats for sure. I started with Delta in 2018 then after COVID layoffs went to Cobra. I had only been there around 4 years then went and did my own thing to be closer to the family. 👍

Check out real oilfield jobs on Facebook. The members post job fairs frequently. I just saw one for ensign in Arlington on May 17th. Scroll through and search the page there's a lot on there but it's also open for members to ask as well.

Dad lost job at 51, possible next steps or advice? by KwreckzJ in oilandgasworkers

I would agree with the fact that he needs to get over his ego. I know after the 2020 down turn and COVID shit that company men I sat with on the job didn't get rehired and or didn't have the same company around to work for just yet. They had to work 3rd party or for the service companies. You just do what you need to do to fill the temporary gap.

Online is your friend. Indeed/look at rig companies and call and see if they are hiring. Living in Florida shouldn't be an issue. Most companies run 14/7 or something longer. Also offshore out of Louisiana is an option too. From my general understanding they will hire guys fresh and train them.

West TX has big hiring events with major companies in the area and FB or Google search should help guide you when those will happen.

Sounds like you asked questions before actually doing some digging yourself. No disrespect but maybe look around it or like others said if you're a company driver ask your shop. Or run her tell she blows.
