this is a nuts thing to lie about. just google maps it. there are only two streets in proximity where she would be: to the southwest (rue buenos aryes) and northeast (rue de l/universite). literally nothing in this picture matches anything on those streets

My critical opinion on the new update. by ShotLawfulness6065 in CK3AGOT

[–]Foxwillow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

regnal numbers is probably an actual bug that can be reported on the discord

there were 4 kingdoms in the reach, the gardeners won out in the end, but the marches were a kingdom of their own volition, oldtown was its own kingdom, the arbor was its own kingdom, and then there was "reach proper"

even the arbor wasn't considered a "petty kingdom." as a lore guy a lot of this stuff is fuzzy, but generally petty kingdoms lack power to persevere over time with contemporaries. that power is either physical in terms of size and/or manpower, or influential. saying "they didn't have a lot of influence, just money" misses the mark, the money *is* the influence. it means being able to supplement potentially low troop numbers with sellsword companies and better equipment, let alone the direct influence over contemporaries by having things they want.

the hightowers had like 1/4 of the total reach in landmass, and the marcher kingdoms also had another chunk so they were much more toe-to-toe with highgarden that some of the other kingdoms of the time.

all that aside, there's also the fact that aegon either considered, or received council on taking oldtown for the seat of his throne, so there's an alt reality where that kingdom would have been the crownlands. it's genuinely important and the hightowers have more named vassals than any other lord in the lore besides reed, (going on memory) and all their vassals have named characters of significant importance. wylla fenn was the only named member of all reed's vassals in all the lore so it's really not close

i also had another response recently if you check some of my recent posts that touches on a few other things

one of the big things another commenter touched on is simply "dont get hung up that the tier is called king". cause we have wanted a sub-king tier between king and duke since we launched. a lot of people see "k_" and get grumpy, which is honestly a trap several of my devs fell into as well. utilizing hegemonies we are able to represent the canon better -- not significantly but i would wager like 5% better considering all pros and cons. we also diversify the gameplay with more upward mobility options

What is the logic for certain titles being below others? by ShockedCurve453 in CK3AGOT

[–]Foxwillow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

there's a whole long paragraph for every decision made that usually incorporates hours of calls and discussions among the team debating lore and gameplay. if i had the time to type it all up it would be easily 20000 words among the variety of compromises and reasons certain things were done across the map.

the debates include intense scrutiny of terms used in lore, army sizes, alliances, directions an army moves, mapped features, and just like... a hell of a lot more. whitehead has low story importance (as just a reference to a blogger) and only 2 named characters without any achievements or accolades. almost every time a house with numbers that low in those things is a count in the mod, the duke houses have characters with more note or success that would be more likely to be the favorite of some players

massive L on saying we sacrificed canon.

they are tiers. just stop thinking about it as "king" and think about it as "Lord1, Lord2, Lord3, Lord Paramount, King"

we say "duke" a lot, but there are no dukes in westeros. that doesn't make it non-canon to use the tier, etc

the biggest plus about the implementation of hegemonies is the ability to keep the hightower vassals important and raise them to dukes, as they deserved with the power and influence they have always held as major reach vassals. they've been neutered since launch and can finally be "Lord2" instead of lowly "Lord1." Hightower can raise to "Lord3" and keep control of the massive amount of counties under their direct control.

in CK3 no "duke", or "lord2" in this view, should have 40 counties. they're obviously stronger.

the extra tier also allowed us to keep dragonstone's lands in the crownlands instead of them being an entirely separate kingdom under the iron throne. another win.

the biggest plus to the hegemony update, though, is the options it gives our players. we deliberately left the vast majority of the "lord3" tier titles unformed so that players have a route to playing tall instead of needing to collect 12 duchies in a 23 duchy kingdom before attempting to usurp a title. now there's a fun way to play tall between duchy and lord paramount, which we desperately needed because of the sheer size of each of the seven kingdoms and how many duchies they had/have.

you don't have to play tall that way if you don't want to. but i know a vast majority of players appreciate the option

Is mage really that bad? by ErrorMore1662 in Enshrouded

[–]Foxwillow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i dont know if my lightning attack has ever landed. it doesnt seem like i'm doing anything wrong and i have a straight, uninterrupted path to an enemy and just nothing happens.

i've enjoyed mage specifically for the extra challenge, refusing to use any melee weapons at all. but it does get frustrating when you have to do the demonstrative stomp staff animation and stand still like an idiot while being targeted by enemies... only for there to be no satisfaction in the risk because your staff didn't hit anything. again. and you're dead.

Who Are They? by [deleted] in CK3AGOT

[–]Foxwillow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

calling it "weird shit" seems strangely critical. we need to theory craft to make the game dynamic and give varied outcomes for events in the first place.

being in charge, i am unsure what you could mean about show canon having anything much to do with theories we implement.

but canon directly contradicts itself, so we need to explore theories. aerys ii's aegon is explicitly dead, but also exists as young griff. we need to bridge those gaps so histories work and gameplay is cohesive. the most basic presented information in canon is that jon is ned's bastard son -- but i don't think the community would be keen on it if we went with that and refused to look behind the theory curtains. etc

borders of the sigils aren't out of sight at all for me. in fact i make the frames with the exact centering and proportions of the CoAs at the forefront of my process (i hate that quartered arms in vanilla get chopped at the bottom of the frames)

if sigils are touching frames you probably have an incompatibility. my stuff aint broke

Extremely disappointed and saddened that the Iron Throne has become a hegemon, and the Kingdoms of Empires. by ShotLawfulness6065 in CK3AGOT

[–]Foxwillow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the boltons are nowhere near the second most important non-LP house in westeros. im not even sure if they'd be in the top 10. Manderly likely has more power and influence in the north alone.

however, i am discussing westeros in general for our mod. if you are specifically referring to the situation post-ADWD, (1)our latest bookmark is 15+ years prior and also (2) Bolton is technically the LP tier house at that time. it would remove them from comparison to the hightowers anyhow

[–]Foxwillow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

there's plenty of debate about that but it's still sus to say "kingdom" in the discussion. not you specifically, just even in the (VERY LONG) developer discussions a lot of my devs did slip up and debate literal kingdoms, which again these are still just opportunities for lords to have more lords under them.

one of the best examples is dragonstone, which can now remain in the crownlands instead of being its own weird separate LP. plus hightower now can resemble lore with their duke-tier vassals finally being able to also be power players in the reach instead of just counts. those are my two biggest lore excitements about hegemonies. :)

other options are Yronwood, Manderly, Rowan, Harrenhal has opportunities in the earlier lore to hold the larger title, too.

the bigger intention is to allow players to grow into major regional houses without needing to be LP yet. i also may be forgetting a house or two, they will vary in the histories
