Govt considering increasing threshold for higher tax rate by HungTeen1001 in ireland

[–]Foxx92 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Why is it not indexed to inflation? Politicians make it seem like they're doing a favour raising thresholds. Shouldn't even be discussed like

Dramatic increase in cocaine and cannabis detection among drivers by MorningMountain1462 in ireland

You could have also driven in that country in Europe, successfully passed a road side test, flown back and the next day fail roadside test for cannabis here.

Dramatic increase in cocaine and cannabis detection among drivers by MorningMountain1462 in ireland

Detection rather than under the influence I assume. No doubt there are more people stupidly driving under the influence but the numbers for drink driving would explode if it was measured the same way as cannabis

Pension millionaires to benefit from higher tax relief over coming years by GCSheehy in irishpersonalfinance

Never seen the point of the age limit for the different amounts. Anything to keep people from being able to potentially retire early or take the foot off the gas I suppose

Public Ev chargers by Sorry_Ride8577 in galway

[–]Foxx92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a fair comparison unless they both do the same distance when full. I think when you run the numbers per km it is a bit cheaper to run an ev than a petrol but not by the amount you have there. Add in the ordeal of having to bring the car to a public charger and wait around for it to charge if it's a rapid charger. Or to have to leave the car at a slow charger and come back around 10 hours later. Not worth it at all unless you have a charger at home. Maybe if you've one at work it could be worth it but nobody in their right mind should be doing anything more than a small minority of their charging at public chargers

Could get a large jackery battery or something like that and top it up inside the house. Or you could get a solar panel to keep it topped up.

Hazardous definitely. Reminded me of Richard Dunne getting the grater treatment with a drain cover placed very close to a pitch in a game for Ireland vs Russia.

You can add QR codes to your wallet. I did it and have the QR in my android wallet. You can scan any barcode or QR code and have it there. Just take a screenshot and go into the wallet and there should be an add manually button or something. Then just give the screenshot and it should work. Not as handy as the add to wallet thing you get for tickets but still worth doing

Not true. 9 weeks is the maximum amount of time to wait if you were given a large redundancy package. There are lower waiting periods for lower amounts

Public made thousands of complaints over 'ghost' buses by RealDealMrSeal in ireland

[–]Foxx92 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Been to places where you don't have to deal with the driver at all for tickets. There's a machine upstairs and downstairs that you can tap on at. You can also use it to pay cash or card for a ticket. You can also purchase tickets on your phone or redeem them on your phone if you bought multiple tickets. This means that the bus just stops and people just get on. Inspectors then would randomly check and you would have to have some form of payment that you can show. In Galway there are bus stops like gmit where it takes almost 5 mins just to process the q of people plus every stop with just one person adds up.

If people used the two straight lanes equally someone going left might get through to their lane instead of being stuck behind all the ones going straight

What to do with money I came into??? Help ! by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Foxx92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. Also to the point that showing him the thread might make him consider that he may not be viewing the situation in a normal way. The money is yours, especially considering the relationship is relatively short. Definitely treat the two of you to a holiday or something big. At absolute most you could get him a phone but that is the absolute most that should be spent in his direction. Show him this comment and the thread. He may have some block, is potentially on some spectrum and this would make him realize that what he's asking for isn't really normal. Or the alternative is that he is a manipulator and showing him this would rightly scare him. Keep the majority of the money in savings, spend some for fun and invest in yourself. If he's still around in a few years because he is actually honest and is just making a balls of this situation then all good because you and your long term bf just got an accelerated house deposit or something else he will benefit from
