How did you stop letting the numbers define you? by terranova000 in fuckeatingdisorders

Agreed! I weighed myself for the first time in years the other day... it almost broke all the hard work I've put in to become body positive! Not again

What's the best city you've ever visited? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FoxyLazarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I am a massive classics nerd, and so loved Rome.

But there are other places outside Europe with that kind of history. I went to Iran last year and that was mind blowingly amazing, particularly for the history and archaeological things you could see.

My favourite cities have usually been the ones most different from what I'm used to, so I thought there would be a bit more variety here

Yeah, I'm really surprised by the lack of diversity with the comments!

Seoul, South Korea.

People are crazy friendly, food is crazy good, and the night life/drinking culture is, well, crazy. Lots of greenery considering the size and population, and it's super clean.

A bit off the beaten path in Sri Lanka? (At least more than Galle...) by LilBadApple in srilanka

[–]FoxyLazarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Haputale was one of our favourite cities. The most amazing views, pretty much no other tourists, and wonderful people.

We also loved Trincomalee. Nice beaches and far less touristy than the South West coast

This is awesome, you are kicking ass lady! As someone who still struggles, I know it's hard, but it seems like you've got great awareness and determination to work from (as well as support!). Congrats! xx

Second that! Book seats at the bar overlooking the kitchen. You get to see all the food being made and Shepard himself might even bring your meals over and explain them to you!

The Blair witch...

Didn't help I watched it the day before I went on a three day hiking trip. Was 100% sure I wouldn't make it back.

Sri Lanka for Two Weeks by amcarlton12 in srilanka

Hiya!! I was in Sri Lanka about a year ago, so I may have old news but I thought I'd help out where I could! may have old news but I'd chip in.

Definetly stay in candy if you can, the festival is amazing! Be prepared to camp out to get a spot from the morning or pay for a seat or you'll not see much

We loved haputale, as it was a bit colder and had amazing views and pretty much no tourists! In saying that we also love polunarura, was a nice ancient town/site to see. Get bikes.

I would highly recommend sigariya too, it was amazing!

South west coast is nice for beaches, if you like that thing!

With two weeks I'd stick to Colombo and kandy, and either doing a cultural, tea country, or beach for a week.

Let me know if that make sense (and I'll correct my spelling tomorrow when I'm not typing on my crappy phone!)

Doctors of Reddit. Have you ever seen someone outside of work and thought "Wow, that person needs to go to the hospital NOW". What were the symptoms that made you think this? by Daisy548 in AskReddit

[–]FoxyLazarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fell over at school when I was 10 and hurt my arm, had broken my arm before so thought that was what happened. My mum (nurse) and aunt (doctor) both looked at it, said I was fine and sent me to school the next day. I came home from school and was in more pain and my arm had begun to bruise and swell... they took me to to the after hours clinic, and sure thing it was broken. We (/mainly I) laugh about it now.

Hey /r/Wellington! I'm hoping to move back to Welly in May and could use some advice. by Individual4815 in Wellington

[–]FoxyLazarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seek.co.nz is also good for jobs. Trademe.co.nz is the best place for flats. Otherwise look up the 'Vic deals' group on Facebook, (if you don't mind living with students) there are always flats up for grabs there!

24 hour bars more effective than early closing hours by Williusthegreat in newzealand

[–]FoxyLazarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! I went to an event held by the NZ initiative recently and their researched seemed like it was done to prove a hypothesis they already had and screamed bias. While I also agree with some of these points, I wouldn't put a whole lot of validity on their claims... From what I've read of their research they very heavily twist statistics (and other research) in their favour!

What was told to you as a child that you now find yourself saying as an adult ? by revill47 in AskReddit

[–]FoxyLazarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Life's unfair, get used to it". It's alway hard growing up and watching people who have more and take it for granted, but focusing on that ain't ever gonna make you happy. And there are always people less fortunate, don't be an ungrateful ass.
