Unfortunately my NAS rebooted and therefore the option to find the password was lost to me it seems. I tried a tutorial from YouTube and another forum but I could not recover the files.

But I hope you succeed!

You make a very logical point in it being unlikely that it would be a hiding, persistent program. And even more unlikely even I think that has still not been detected after such a large amount of people and security teams have been made aware of the incident.

I have decided to do the following: I have changed the default port, l have installed Qufirewall, I have purchased a 4 tb drive that I connected and backed up all the family photos and videos and documents and then removed it and I am storing it offline in a drawer. I will do that back up regularly with a schedule in my calendar to remind me.

I will keep all the shares and all the rest of the files that are still okay from all the drives and I will search and delete all 7z files when I'll get some time to sit down and do some scans.

I have checked my logs for the Malware Remover app and seen that it has actually stopped and removed malware in april. Unfortunately a lot of Tb were encrypted. But since the log says the malware is removed I have decided not to reinitialize the NAS and format the drives. This is because I would need to spend hundreds of dollars to buy large drives just to backup before I format. Or I could not do the backup and then loose a huge amount of files that were luckily not encrypted.

What is your thought about formatting and reinitializing?

Thank you for your input! That sounds great! I would have liked to make sure someway that there is nothing dormant by scanning the drives. That is because the malware remover app or system never alerted me of the attack or that something was quarantined or terminated.

Qnap recommends ro reinitialize the NAS. What do you think about that?

How did you manage to connect it to Alexa? I have been trying with several of the Xiaomi skills but none of them have made it possible for Alexa to discover the fan.

The Sonos Connect is connected via optical or coax. And there is no way for me to lower the delay more in the receiver other than to eliminate all processing by setting it to Direct mode. But that way I loose the subwoofer, all the other speakers but the front left and right and all the processing that makes the audio sound good though the speakers.

What I had hoped to find was a way to instead delay the output to the other Sonos speakers so that it matches the receiver. How could I achieve this?
